Greetings,
I'm looking for a male online accountability partner who would be willing to post back and forth every week or two. I am a 30 year old married man and have been a believer for 9 years. My walk with Christ is fruitful but I am periodically challenged in the areas of lust, masturbation and pornography. I do have local relationships that are periodically challenging me in these areas also but I think there may be some benefit to putting some of where I'm at down in writing on a regular basis.
Thanks,
J

J, we don't encourage nor provide accountability partners here on our counseling section. I have moved your post here in this specific section because it refers to masterbation/pornography and is part of what we address here in Breaking the Chains section. Others should be posting advice and suggestions; but maybe not too many since it is Sunday and they are at services in their churches today. Also, see there is some sort of glitch we are having today with the little guy banging his head showing up. I didnt' click on him in your notice..so when you see that just ignore it. I will send this smilie instead. :)...
Please read the guidelines in this section and this specific one where our administrators comments on "accountability partners" is listed and where he gives the reasons why we do not encourage that here. You are most welcome to continue posting here on this thread where others in time will respond.

Hello J and welcome to the forums. I also want to welcome you to the "Recovery: Breaking the Chains" section of this forum. We want to extend to you any help we can by lending an ear and giving advice where the Spirit leads us.
Addiction is a crutch. Whether that addiction is from food, alcohol, video games, internet, porn or masturbation. Addictions are things that bring us out of fellowship with the Creator because they take your focus off of the things of the kingdom and redirect your focus on the things of this world.
Jesus says:
Mk 4:19 (http://bibledatabase.org/cgi-bin/bib_search/bible.cgi?BIBLE=48&BOOK=41&CHAP=4&SEARCH=jesus%20king%20lord&Read=Read&FIRST=OK&HV=19) And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
My area of addiction-recovery is not so much porn/masturbation (although it did tie in somewhat with my drug addiction) but all addiction is tied in through the evil one, giving him a foothold in your life where God desires to be. Resist the devil-turn to God and He will help you through this. Cheech, Slug1, wiseoldowl, and myself are the mods for this section, and anytime you feel a need to post, especially about you progress, then feel free to do so. We can help you by praying with, and for you and offering up advice as the Spirit wills us to do. We all have a signature at the bottom of our posts or on the profile pages. Check them out and hopefully it will be some assistance on the road to your recovery.
May God bless you my friend

Hi J, my e-mail address is *deleted by Slug1*, please e-mail me when you can and we can talk about it. Thanks J!
skc0037, as you can read through this thread we do not allow accountablility partners except for the style where open discussion is done on this board. If you want to offer help to this person, encourage them to post in this thread where you can reply.
Here's the rule at post #3: http://bibleforums.org/forum/showthread.php?p=1948531

I have found online accountability to be helpful. We have started an online accountability group and we meet through Skype every Thursday at 8 AM EST. More information can be found here:

I hope that you can join us. Right now there are just 3 of us, but we are open to having a few more in our group. May the Lord bless you in this good fight.

jpo,
The thing about online accountability partners is that it allows you to keep your secret from your friends, family, and peers. This is especially true if said partner is little more than a stranger.
If I were in your shoes, I would go to my pastor, or any other elder I respected and tell them everything post haste. To give you an idea why I'd suggest this... I've been there. Unfortunately for me, my mistakes went far beyond watching pornography. In retrospect, I'd have rather had everyone I know knowledgeable of my sin and pushing me towards help than the destruction I actually wrought.
Are you involved in any church?
