I recently got a used HP printer. I found the drivers and stuff I needed to run itonline and installed them. I printed a teat page when it asked me to and it worked. But I can't print anything else. I tried to print out a word doc, nothing. I tried restatrting the computer and the printer and still nada, but it will print a test page. :B

Stupid question here but is the the printer you have selected as your primary printer?

Should be in your control panel under printer(s).

Also, when you're printing from an application a window (specific to that application) usually comes up. Look for a drop down box that allows you to pick a printer. Usually its right at the top of the window. Make sure its your actual printer in that box.

Okay, it is taking in the paper but not printing anything on the paper, only works if I do a test page.

... I hate to always be the bad guy but here I go once more. We know nothing about your printer other than it is a second hand Hewlett Packard. Without the Model and serial number it absolutely impossible to begin to research your printer. And then for a definitive resolution it is required that we know you computer Brand and model number as well as the operating system. You might be running Mac OSX, Linux Freespire, Ubuntu 8.10, we cannot say but we must know to give you any real help. Shoot, you might even be one of the poor folks running Windoze Vista.

See if there is anything on this site that might be of hep to you:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/J2771-90011/apas07.html

It's an HP trouble shooting site that has answers for frequent problems.
