View Full Version : Baby food

I have been having fun making food for my 9 month old daughter.

Last week I made a bunch of 1 min, 6 grain cereal. A couple of days to cook, dehydrate and mill everything but I have enough for a few months for the price of 2 weeks worth of store bought cereal. Lots of time saved in the long run as well. Seems like it grows to 5 or 6 times the volume when cooked.

I have done a bunch of veggies too but have not got into the fruits and meats yet. A bit of time before I want to start giving her meat yet but getting prepared is in mind.

Hilarious to see the looks she has on her face when trying new things.

Any good recipes for me? Tips or success stories? Failure stories.. ;)

Peace,
Joe

I just mash up whatever my husband and I have for dinner, so no, no good recipes. :D

My son is 8 months old, going on 9, and he's been eating meat products for that last month or two. I think babies can handle a lot more than most people AND doctors, give them credit for. My son has had ravioli, fish sticks, chicken.........and I think that's it so far......ground beef is kinda hard to mash up. And I'm lazy.

:rofl:I've thought about it. But no, no pizza yet. I just mash most of his food up with a fork. He has a BIG appetite, so I'm finding that not making it into mush lasts him a longer. A little bit longer anyways. With his appetite, I don't think he'd survive on veggies and fruit and baby cereal. lol! Meat products hardly lasts him. It's insane how much this 8 month puts away.

it took me 7 kids to realize that babyfood grinders are cool. you can take the hand held ones anywhere and jusr mash up anything you are eating. If you don't go with the flo and actually have a baby that is nursed till 9 months or a year without foods, they go right to table foods. this is very helpful with no cost to buying babyfoods that are not healthy for babies.
you go dad, making your baby foods:pp

At this time in babys life they should be breast-fed

Not entirely. A baby needs to be started on food. If I tried to breast feed my son only right now, he would be crying all the time. It wouldn't be enough for him. He has a HUGE appetite. Breast milk just wouldn't be enough to fill his tummy.

So sorry, no. Babies need to be started on food, too.

I don't have a baby, but I feed my nephews puffy cheetos. I'd make a horrible mom, lol.

Thankfully that is something God has it set up I don't need a recipe for.

Also fortunate that her mom is blessed with the ability to give her that as often as possible.

Peace,
Joe

I used to make my own baby food from fresh veggies and fruits. I would puree it real well and then put them in ice trays to freeze. Then when we needed it, we would just pop some out and heat it up.

I made my own wet wipes too and saved lots of money.
