I smoked pot for almost 10 years, gave it up 3 months ago!!!
I was praying just now (feeling down on myself), feeling like the Holy Spirit has left me, (i've been back sliding). After I got done talking to God, it hit me.....Hey, I have'nt smoked pot in 3 months!!!Thank you soooooo much Jesus!!!! The Spirit has'nt left me, I chose to ignore it. I just pray that God will keep his patience with me. I still have to tackle the beer and cigs.
Baby steps.........

Praising the Lord with you today. Don't give up! It's been 25 years since I've smoked pot. I gave it up on the day of my salvation. Praying for you.

AMEN brother! I haven't smoked marijuana in 3 months as well, and I plan on keeping it that way. How can I worship my true love, my God, while high?
Kudos for you, and I pray that you will NEVER pick it up again.

Something that I DO have to admit that if it weren't for the accountability from my friends, I probably would have gone back to it.

YEAH PRAISE GOD!!! He is so awesome. Sometimes there are things that seem way stronger than you are, and it's just great to think that there's nothing that he can't give us the power to resist.
I'm here for accountability myself so it's super encouraging to see that it's worked for people like you. W00T GOD IS GOOD.

Many praises for your walk away from drugs.
Remember, be mindful of who you are spending time with.

Great post!! It is imperative to get around other Christians and have fellowship with them. Not saying that you should abandon old friends but stay away from bad influences.
I was thinking the other day how I no longer want to do the things like drinking, smoking pot and other things. I want to go to Church and study and talk about the things of God.
BTW, its been about 2 1/2 years since I have had a drink.
Keep up the good work and keep believing in GOd.

Congrats and if I may say so, you do not "have to tackle the beer and the cigs." "The battle is YHWH's." "Without Me you can do nothing." From my own experiences with addiction I have found that when I am trying, I fail.
When I rely instead of try instead, HE succeeds through me.

Great job paradiseinn! It's been 9 months for me. Luckily there was never a time in my life where I smoked regularly. However, it was getting to that point after mom died last july. I got high a good bit until september. I was sitting there stoned out of my mind, and I remember saying to myself, "this is not me. I'm already a chill, easy-going guy. I don't need this crap. It's making a zombie out of me." So I quit. Keep praying about it man cause you know satan will try to make you feel like you need it again.

Hey, I smoked weed for like, 17 years straight and it took an act of God to take me away from that burden, so I know what you are talking about.
Praise God for our Lord and Savior,Jesus Christ who took away the sins of the world! Hallelujah!!
God bless!!

Hey everybody, I'm just introducing myself, I am confused about the instructions to click an icon in a post above so this post doesn't really relate to the thread I chose to click the icon on, if it shows thay post.
I am here for prayer, i am sddicted to pain killers, i have 3 surgaries related to my back and have now have an addiction i am not able to defeat alone. I think it is demon related, even though I ama Chritsian, admittedly backslidden at this time, but I believ demons can still affect Christians.
First, how do you folks here believe in demon activity?
Secondly, and the most important, please add me to your prayer lists, my name is Ed, I am in North Carolina, and I need the Holy Spirit to cleanse me, and refill me, so please pray.
Thirdly, scripture and any personal experience is also welcome and encouraged
PS: I am terrible typist and not good at grammar so you can pray for those skills also
