Does anyone have suggestions on how I could pay for christian schooling for my 1st and 2nd grader? We are a military family with 5 kids and hubby is only an E3. We live in San Diego and I want to send my oldest two to Lighthouse Baptist Academy, but we obviously can't afford it considering our youngest 2 were born in Januaruy. I really want my children to get a good education while learning about The Lord.

I can tell you how it works for people associated with our church and have kids in the local Christian school. My church regularly has I guess what would be termed a freewill offering for the "Christian Education Fund". This is managed by the deacons (I'm one). For members of our congregation that may have difficulty financially but want to put their kids through Christian school partial financing is made available as the funds allow.

There is a historical relationship between the church and the school so I can't comment on whether this is common elsewhere. Anyway you may want to talk to your church and see if there are any available funds specifically for Christian education.

I also should mention that our province is a bit special in that Christian (as well as other religious and independent schools) receive government funding of up to 50% (per student) of their operational expenses (nothing for capital costs) therefore tuition costs are a bit lower than most other jurisdictions.
