Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (KJV)

How many times have I read this scripture? How many times have I trusted that, like the eagle, I too would be renewed in strength. Whenever I have felt weak and weary lately somehow the image of the eagle has appeared and in surprising ways.

Last week I found a website posted on our section here called Anything Goes(thread is called Eagle Cam) ..where a mother eagle and eaglets (I think that is what you call baby eagles) are appearing on a web cam around the clock. It is like looking through a window (even at night) and seeing and hearing the activities there. I have been a bird watcher for many years but have never seen anything quite like it.

And when I prayed for someone after church services (am on the prayer team) and shared Isaiah 40:31; the person I was praying for told me that while he was driving he had seen an eagle swoop down right in front of his car and then soar upward. So we prayed that his strength to face a very difficult situation would be renewed as he waited upon the Lord.

And last night as I got bundled up to go to my granddaughter's evening softball game I noticed that my gray sweatshirt jacket had something spilled on it. So I put it in the laundry hamper and chose another one..this one in dark blue which has a picture of an eagle on it as well as the scripture above. I didn't even make the connection myself to the above; but at the game a friend asked me what that was on my sweatshirt and she read the words of scripture on my jacket. She is a older widow and pastor's wife who is having a hard time now since she lost her husband seven months ago. I told her that I thought she was being renewed in strength like the eagle in the scripture. She received that! And I promised to pray for her and shared that the Lord would surely guide her in the days to come.

Later I realized that had I not worn that particular jacket..this might not have come up and I might not have had the opportunity to share and encourage her. God allowed me to change that sweatshirt for His good purposes. And I was annoyed because it caused a minor delay in our leaving for the game. And it all came together according to His plan..

I guess my thought for today is that no matter what each of us has been or is going through, we can be renewed in hope as we wait upon the Lord to renew our strength, even as the eagle is renewed.

Let the eagle soar, O Lord, let the eagle soar! :amen:

Thanks for sharing that! I am always reminded of God's promise when I see an eagle soaring effortlessly into the heights.

I like this thread! Seeing an eagle soar to great heights is also a reminder that God's view is the "big picture" not the little bits and pieces we see on this earth in our bodies....

I, too, love and stand on that Scripture...there's a song also, that says....HE shall renew your strength and you shall mount up with wings as eagles, you shall run and not grow weary, you shall walk and not faint, teach me Lord, teach me Lord, how to wait!!!

Thanks for the reminder!!! Praise our Mighty God!

Hi, I have been on a bit of a break here having had company; so I just now saw these replies to a thread I started some time back which seems to have gotten a bit revised lately.

I was keeping track of the eagles on a webcame coming out of Australia these past few months and watched the mother and father caring for their young and the growth progress of the eaglets in their nest. Then when the little ones got older one eaglet fell probably when learning to fly..from the nest and ended up in another eagle's nest. (Not sure how but another webcam showed that) Then that mature eagle in who's nest the young one fell.. watched over the young one as it healed. This made me think of how when younger people leave their homes and sometimes get themselves hurt or injured or into a bad scene God will guide them to another place of sancturary where a mature Christian or Christians (likely in a church or youth group or with a friend) will help them as they heal and get the courage to try to fly again.

We are all so like the eagles who need our strength and energy restored from time to time. And we never outgrow that. God provides other eagles to give us needed sanctuary when we fall into times of difficulty and pain. We are healed and then move on and fly anew.

peace and blessings,

turtledove.

Thank you turtledove

that is so true, we all need our strength and energy renewed from time to time. That's how awesome our God is to send those along side us to lift us up when we are down so we can fly again. He works through us to strengthen one another. He knows just the right time, what we need and when we need it. He continually amazes me.
What a wonderful and awesome God our God is. Hallelujah!
