View Full Version : What can I do?

I am a young man that recently got married. Before I married there is something in my life that I have been struggling with and that is patronizing the prostitutes. Anytime I have sexual urge I would look for an easy way to satisfy myself. Sometime I even masturbate. The problem is anytime I indulge myself in this practice I would feel very depressed and worried.

I have tried some practical means to stop this practice, like thinking negatively about things like that or trying to put my mind at how I normally feel after the act. All these have not yielded any result!

Now that I am married, I thought I would not do it again, but I am still doing it and the one that happened to me recently really made me feel so bad. I know this is very dangerous for me and could really devastate my life here not to talk of the eternal destruction. Please what can I do to stop this abnormal and immoral way of life.

Thank you,

Austin

Hey Austin, Welcome to the board!

I suffered with what you are going through and have been freed by the healing power of Jesus Christ. I'll link ya to my testimony, the part specific to this situation that many men suffer from and have overcome through Jesus.

Let me ask a question: You say "sometimes" you masturbate, what is done the other "sometimes"?

My entire testimony is linked in my signature but an addition that deals with overcoming my addiction to fantasy lust and masturbation is consolidated here: http://bibleforums.org/forum/showpost.php?p=1737682&postcount=14

Austin, I have gone through the same drive and condemnation cycle to. I would tell you to not take a "guilt trip" booked by Satan's travel agency. If you are a born again, blood purchased, child of God - there is no condemnation. God's still on His throne, and His love for you isn't based on your works - it's unconditional, not to say He can't take you out back to the wood shed. ;)

...recently really made me feel so bad. I know this is very dangerous for me and could really devastate my life here not to talk of the eternal destruction.About the masturbation, it probally won't edify (build up) your wife to know this. About the prostitutes, you need help brother, which I pray the Lord will provide.

Please what can I do to stop this abnormal and immoral way of life. Are you renewing your mind daily in God's Word? Are you taking it to the Lord in prayer. "Casting all your care upon Him for He cares for you."

Thank you all for straight and helpful response. I read through the link you gave by Slug1 as his personal experience and it really touched me. However, I am afraid of telling my wife all these... I would have been more comfortable to tell my close friends but I dont think I have the courage to do so too. I know it would be a great relief if I open up but I believe God can help me. I have told Him all. Please pray for me.

Thank you,

Austin.

Hi Austin!

I know some may think this is odd, but I was delivered by fasting my sexual problem.

I know people fast food and drink, but I decide to fast my sexual problem for a month. By the time the month was up, I had received the strength to break free.

Austin: i had very bad struggles for years in sexual issues. i know that in your position, "reading a book" seems like a totally ineffective answer, but i can only give testimony of my own life.

i gained great victory in sexual issues by reading and believing "At the Altar of Sexual Idolatry" by steve gallagher. the Lord kindly used this book to change my life drastically in the area of sex.

this book is not fun to read at all, but if you will hang with it and believe what he's telling you, it can truly help you. i was so very miserable over everything about sex, this is how i came out of the misery.
