What would you say to someone who confides in you that they're a Christian, but that they have fantasies about being murdered? This person lives in a bad neighborhood, and leaves the door unlocked at night because they just don't care if they die or not.
In fact, this person wants to die, and apparently, by strangulation.
I know it's a weird question, but any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds kind of like the 'suicide by cop' thing that happens. :( Where the person is too afraid to actually kill themselves so sets the police up to do it for them..which is horrible...or the person that drives in front of a semi...the semi driver doesn't always survive though. :(
This person is seriously depressed, suicidal..probably mentally ill and needs help. I would ask them if they thought God would approve...
Remember anyone can say they're are a Christian...doesn't mean they are..
I would be praying for your friend...more then likely they will be beaten and robbed, maybe raped..maybe crippled for life...they are clearly having alot of distorted thinking going on...:( I think showing them pictures of the lady that was shot in the face might help to discourage such ideas. She is the one that got the face transplant..been on the news.
Do pray for him or her...
God bless

You're right. She's pretty depressed.
I doubt she would even listen to me. She wants to die, but is afraid to commit suicide.

If her reasoning for wanting to die is "so the pain ends" then see if she would be willing to try something else to end the pain.... maybe an in or out patient facility can help her?

From what I understand, she feels worthless -- she has really low self-esteem. She's not interested in getting psychiatric help.

Then, IMO, you need to drop by with a friend, the pastor, to talk to her. Find some scripture of encouragement and read to her...give her gospel cd or something. Suggest you go with her to counseling or whatever. She needs help....no one should want to die....can they really know Jesus if they are saying these kinds of things? I mean, I don't know! Get her some professional help with or without her knowing!
God Bless and I'll be in prayer for you for the strength you need to deal with this in God's wisdom....also, praying for your friend that she realize there are many people out there with NO friends, worse off than her.
P.S. She can't expect things to get better until she gets to the root of her problems and trull finds knows Jesus!
