Anybody here run?

Currently, I'm training for a HM on September 20th. Have my base MPW up to 20-22 running 4x weekly. Hoping there might be some others to share training tips and encouragment with.

Let's hear ya!

Used to love running but my uber flat feet finally caught up with me. :(

I ran into the store last night for some donuts....

Nah...not really. Knees can't take the miles any more, although I ran a lot in high school and college.

I used to do alot of running but pretty much quit after I got out of the Army. No real tips, the only thing I can say is that I would keep putting my feet in front of each other really quickly and whenever I wanted to quit, would just keep running. It helped when I had someone screaming at me to sing, or was screaming at other soldiers to also sing. Normally, I found it easier to run if I was leading the formation, because then I didn't have that one jerk in front of me who could never keep pace and would always force me to break mine.

September 20th is my birthday! I haven't been a serious runner since I was in the Army. I should really get back into it though.

During allergy season, my nose runs. Does that count?

When I was at the AG center at Ft Benning, I ran the best mile I ever have. I never beat it the entire time I was in, or since then. I ran a 5:07 mile. I used to could run as many 6 minute miles as you cared to throw at me. I destroyed my knee when I was in the Army and have never seriously run since unless I was chasing a bad guy or defending a member of my youth group. I think I set a world land speed record that day...;)

If you see me running, you had better catch up, because something/someone is chasing me and I am out of ammo.

my philosophy is: why run when you can not run.

Why can't you run? My reason(s): Lazy and lack of motivation.

I am a treadmill man myself! I absolutely love putting on the headphones and watching tv on the newfangled ones! I can run for an hour straight on them and you don't have to worry about traffic, dogs, or cracks in the sidewalk.

Oh no did I just say newfangled??!! I am getting old!:o

I went out and bought a pair of running shoes yesterday. They're made by UnderArmor, very comfortable. I ran a couple miles with my girlfriend last night. I had a great time but we are both a little sore. Going again tomorrow!

I have been running for some time now, last year I put just little over 1200 miles on one very good pair of shoes. In the last month I have ran as much as normal because my replacement shoes are just not as good. So what I am saying is get a great pair of shoes and if you plan on keeping on running buy a 2nd pair just like them. Because shoes are like cars a new model comes out each year..
And what was your HM time? How did you hold up and planning on doing more or full 26.2 in near future?
