Well I was going to post for help on this thinking I had viruses after updating iTune...but I just found this article:

http://mashable.com/2009/07/24/itunes-trojan-small-bog/
AVG, one of the most popular anti-virus programs, is causing confusion today by wrongly identifying iTunes files as trojans. After updating its virus definitions, the anti-virus software finds up to 181 “viruses” in iTunes: attempting to quarantine the files prevents iTunes from working. The supposed virus name is “trojan horse small.bog”.

An extensive thread in the Apple discussion forums shows that AVG is giving a false positive: there’s no risk of trojans in iTunes, and quarantining the files will break your iTunes install. You can disable the alerts by creating an exception in AVG:

1. Open AVG

2. Go to Resident Shield -> Manage Exceptions -> Add Path

3. Add C:\Program Files\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iPod

AVG will no doubt correct the issue in their next definitions update.

Well pooh..some files did get 'fix' are iTunes and some for iPod... So I probably broke iTunes...:B

So what do I do? uninstall iTunes then reinstall it?

Grrrrrrrr I am getting frustrated. Their instruction on how to get AVG to not see this as a viruses isn't working. When I click on Add path, a window comes up showing all my files wanting me to pick one from it. It won't let me add the C:\Program Files\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iPod

I have no idea how to find this above program file in all of that..:(

Any ideas?

AVG has probalbly already issued an update to correct the false positives, so it's important to update, and much too difficult to block files from the scans.

You should be able to restore quarrantined files.

If you have broken iTunes files, yes, it's best to reinstall. But I would wait untill AVG has had a chance to fix the false positives.

You can also contact AVG about the quarantined files (they have an email function in tools or help) if after a few days nothing has happened.

To restore quarrantined files, you go to the vault and click on each one then click restore.

I tried updating AVG already..before I even saw all of this and it said no updates were available. They have a new AVG coming out that needs to be done before the end of this month..maybe that has the fix on it. Anyway thanks...I will check the vault.

Edited..it shows nothing in the vault...I will probably just have to uninstall and reinstall iTunes...

God bless
