His dwelling place is lovely:
like in Psalm 84:1-5
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O LORD Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.
Selah
5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage. (NIV)
***What else do you see as uplifting, comforting, and lovely about God?

"Footprints in the Sand" used to seem like a trite greeting card sentiment to me. I'm a guy and those things give me the cooties, but I see now how real that thought is; At times when it seemed like the Lord had given up on me, and I saw only my footprints, I can now look back and see he was really carrying me, and they were in fact his. Note to self; "I will never leave you or forsake you." he said.

I, as much as I have thought about God and what I think about HIM and HIS whole trinity, can never come up with "the" appropriate word for HIM...so, I guess the lovely thing I would say about HIM is "EVERY THING IS LOVELY ABOUT HIM!!"
I DO love HIM so!:hug::hug::hug:

His love is perfect and unyielding. He's the only being in existence that could forgive and love me through all the wrongs I've committed against Him. How He could love someone like me, I can't fathom. His is a love to live and die for.

I know everyone knows this one, but it's so wonderful to me.
Lamentations 3:22-25
"It's because of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed. His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness."
If needs be, we can start over with God every morning. Yesterday doesn't matter anymore because it's gone and never to return.
Tomorrow doesn't matter because it's immaterial - it doesn't exist.

Jayne, your verse reminded me of one of my favorites.

He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing."

How lovely the Lord is......
Psalm 103:8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
9 He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
13 Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

Nothing can ever, ever separate us from His love :hug: :hug: :hug:
~ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord ~

I love this Psalm also.......
Psalm 63
1 O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
4 So I will bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You on my bed,
I meditate on You in the night watches,
7 For You have been my help,
And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to You;
Your right hand upholds me.
You are lovely, our Lord God. :)

His faithfulness, and the fact that even when He punishes us, it is a sign of His faithfulness.
He is a faithful God; therefore, we never have to fear Him when we come before Him to ask forgiveness, whereas with people, we never know how they are going to react.

Psalm 91
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side,
though ten thousand are dying around you,
these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes,
and see how the wicked are punished.
I especially love verse 4. Its comforting to know that all we have to do is trust Him and he's going to take care of us.

I LOVE HIS GRACE The Apostle John describes Him as full of grace :hug: :hug: :hug:
Now that is such, such good news to me and so lovely! In a world where so much depresses and oppresses, Jesus lifts me up and pours HIs grace all over and in me!
And for the reader that might not know what grace really means,it means:
G5485
χάρις
charis
khar'-ece
From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude): - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).

I grew up very, very poor. My mother re-made hand me downs from my cousins for years and I can still remember going into a store to buy my first ever, off the rack dress. I was about 12 if I remember correctly.
Needless to say, food was whatever was cheap and available. No one in my family cared to cook, we ate what was prepared and it was prepared as simply as possible.
When I married my husband, he was in the Air Force. We moved a thousand miles away from anything that was familiar. I'm a reader - but we didn't have lots of money to spare. Before I found the local library, I thought I would lose my mind (don't go there) until one day I said, God, please, I need to read SOMETHING!!! And you know what? He had me open my brand new, wedding present cook-book. And it had all sorts of information on foods and what to serve with whatever else for contrast and compliment. I was fascinated. I started paying attention to what I cooked and how I cooked it. When I found the library, I checked out books on nutrition and discovered the building blocks that are found in foods - what foods do what things in our bodies. It became a hobby with me, one I still enjoy. I love to cook and I love knowing that WHAT I cook keeps my family healthy. Our bodies are amazing in their design and function.
As a whole, we are an incredibly healthy family. I think the Lord "deprived" me of reading material for a time so I would be forced to learn about healthy eating. He gave me very, very short term "suffering" for a very long term blessing.

He gave me very, very short term "suffering" for a very long term blessing.
Yes, our loving God does do that. And sometimes it is hard to see the plan until after it has unfolded.
God bless you for sharing this blessing.
This scripture always blesses me:
1 Thessalonians 4:11 TNIV (http://www.biblica.com/bible/verse/?q=1 Thessalonians 4:11&tniv=yes) • "...and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, "
because:
Four six years we lived out in the country before moving to town. Finding good fellowship and a place to worship wasn't easy and often we drove miles to attend services. As we began this change and adventure from city life to a fairly remote area..I pondered the above scripture. Meanwhile it sure felt like I was being deprived (like you were about those books to read) My fellowship and ministry had been face to face and in larger group settings for years. I had taught bible studies to women, been a teacher and even a counselor..as well as worked in church Christian education administration on a church staff. This was a change for me..
What happened to me during the next six years was not what I expected. I envisioned starting a group or finding a good bible study..(we drove 90 miles RT weekly to attend one the first year there as well as 90 miles RT to church each week for worship services. But..virtually this was a quiet life. I did work with my hands doing crafts, trying out new recipes, (love to cook) making things, and tending a small garden.
But I was just beginning to use the Internet more and more usually just for communication with friends and relatives..until I gradually got involved on a Christian forum and then eventually this one. And I did much one to one ministry and counseling via email as well. Gradually my ministry became more and more on line and reached to people in faraway places. In time I did moderating on a forum.
The point was..God put me through the loss of one thing to give me another..and it turned out to be worth the loss to receive the new.
Now I am back in the city and back in church ministry both on a prayer team and as a women's bible study leader. I still spend some time on this forum as well as keeping in touch with many on line..but not like I once did when I was living out in the country.
I never guessed at first that 'working with my hands' would mean that I would be typing posts on line or communicating via email..but it was a 'quiet life' and it was a blessing for about eight years counting the last two spent here in town.
God is so good to give us what we need, use us as He will wherever we are, prepare us for things yet unexpected, and help us learn His ways through His Word so to grow close to Him..in quietness sometimes and using our hands. :)
He equips us for His purposes..and that is a big blessing!

When I open my heart, and then my mind, God has so many great things to say and do, there for me to see and hear. His loveliness spreads out like a rich, green field, with fresh air and beauty every step of the way, with a soft breeze rustling through the trees. I pray I can help my family and friends walk with me. I pray that we can all see the beautiful way God has set for us.

"They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over." (Luke 9:17)
The Lord fed a multitude with only a small basket of food..yet they were all fed and twelve basketfuls were left. Truly a miracle.
God can bring an increase from even the smallest things. And so it is with the little things we do in His Name..which often have an effect way beyond what they seemed at first. Blessed be the Lord! :)

Old saying is: "God's delays are not His denials." We learn so much as we wait upon Him. His timing is perfect and He just doesn't get in a big hurry; because He always sees beyond what we see and the hearts of others while we look at the faces. :amen:
But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!" Habukkuk 2:3 (TLB)

This is probably going to sound really corny, but I changed some of the lyrics to this Whitney Houston song, and sometimes I sing it to Him:
You build me up
You gove me love

You're all I got
You're all I got in this world
but You're everything I need
I don't know...that probably sounds really lame
