:B It has been on my heart for quite some time to get going with a traveling repair ministry and I am not sure how to start it off so here goes; this is my vision to get called to small congregation churches that need any kind of repairs done and "basic need" repairs for the congregation. I have been blessed with the ability to fix and repair just about anything. I have been nicknamed in the past "McGeiver" the only explanation that i have for this talent is that it is from God. Now he wants me to put it to work for him. Is there some one that can help me get the word out, or is your church in need of repair, heater work, plumbing, roofing, welding anything broken? help me to help others.:help:

If God wants to use you He will find a way to make it very clear to you what you are suppoesed to do and where and how. All you need to do is to tell Him He may use you.
But the strange thing is sometimes he might use you not with what you can do best but with what you believe you cannot do.
Good Luck SDG

I am inclined to believe this is a very novel idea. Go for it if it is in your heart.
Have fun with your repairs.

Hey, I really like your spirit and willingness to help. You and I are a lot alike in a lot of ways..so let me assist you for a second.
Here's how.
I am an electrician. I simply went to some of the department heads and told them that if they ever need anything to simply say the word.
ONe asked me how much I charged...I told him, "Materials and lunch"
(hey, I gotta eat....and the worker deserves his wages) I usually do get fed...sometimes not. OH well.
So...now I get called all the time these days when there are electrical issues at the church. (ours is rather a big one)
Here is the main issue though that I find all the time.
I am not their only volunteer. Other handimen such as yourself who has no formal training or knowledge of codes and practices have been into the wiring in the church...it is now in bad shape. The good Lord knows I can't fix it all when I am in the ceiling or junction box/panel...but I straighten out as much as I can when I am there. I, as well as most other good electricians, leave things in such a condition as if we know that we are coming back in five years(or someone else is)...long after we have forgotten what is what...so we leave all kinds of written clues as to what is what. Numbering circuits and panels on Junction covers...so we can turn them off and not have to work stuff hot. Missing junction box covers is never a good thing...and abandoned wires also need to be labled as to what and where...not just cut and left as a mystery. (the circuit might come in handy)
Normally codes inspectors look the other way in a church...but it is catching up to all of us. Churchs are burning down as a result. It is a public use facility and proper procedures must be used or else people get hurt.
Word of mouth has not only given me a ministry...but also some lucrative sidework for private business individuals (it wasn't my intent and I tried to get out of it...but they wouldn't hear nothing of it and I needed the cash at the time)
Right now, all I would have to do is call a pastor in my neighborhood and ask if he needed anything electrical and if he did...I got something to do. They can call my pastor for a reference and he is happy to oblige (unless he is wanting something done first at our church. LOL)
I might just do that next week. I got some free time coming so...
Have a good time. :D
