Prayer Chapter 14

Colossians 1:3-4 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints.

Colossians 1:9-14 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
That you may have a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

This is what I have prayed for you. This is the desire of my heart for you as I've written this study.

These are the things I have prayed for above all else for my husband and children, for my son-in-law and grandchildren and for the church, the body of Christ.

That you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

That you would not merely understand what is good in your own eyes, but that you would be consumed with the knowledge of His will, that you would seek and be given wisdom and spiritual understanding that we cannot have apart from Him.

That as you grow in the knowledge of His will that you would lay aside all that is false, clinging to Him in wisdom.

That your lifestyle and the inmost parts of your hearts would be a worthy reflection of our Lord, fully pleasing Him. That you lay aside all that is intended only to please yourself.

That you will be fruitful in every good work, leaving nothing of eternal value undone. That the obedience of your love for Him will cause your knowledge of Him to abound. That you will know Him more intimately and passionately than before.

And though the winds blow, the rains come down and the storms rage against you, you are safely imbedded in the Rock of Salvation and will not be moved.

That you will stand as He stands even now according to His glorious power. Unchanging in devotion for Him with all patience and longsuffering with joy.

Though the world fails you, God never will. Though your own body fails you, God will not.

That you would set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth, learning to trust Him even in the blackest hours because you have grown to know Him.

I give thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

I give thanks that He, by Himself purged our sins and delivered us from the power of darkness. That we have been released from the snares that once held us captive.

I pray that we would walk in the light as He is in the light. The real light, His light. Not artificial man-designed, man-made light.

And that we would forsake all the deeds and thoughts of darkness because for this He died and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.

The beauty and depth of these words compel me to pause and repeat them…
#
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
#

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Colossians 3:4 When Christ who is our life appears then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Lord, teach us to pray.

Study questions

1) Has asking the Lord to teach you to pray become more common place in your prayer life since we began the study? If so what impact has this had on your prayer life? Is this a practice in prayer that you'll continue?

2) When you pray how do you approach God in your heart? Do you know Him as your Father?

3) Do you see that God desires a relationship with you and that the desire you have to know Him is placed there by Him? What does that tell you about God?

4) Are you most often a diligent seeker or a casual inquirer?

5) List some of the things that the Lord has taught you about Himself and how those things have affected your relationship with Him.

#
This is the conclusion of this prayer study. I pray you have been challenged, encouraged and built up in Christ our Lord and that your relationship with Him is flourishing and that your prayer life abounds richly as your roots of faith in Him grow ever deeper, always seeking His will.

Thank you, kayte, for all the time and effort you put into this study. I know I was not a very active participant but I worked the questions, studied, and read every post, even though I did not post much. Please know, I appreciate you :hug:

I hope you will continue to bring studies to us.
