I agree, it should be about a relationship not a free ticket to heaven, if you know what I mean.
I believe if we are walking in the spirit, the spirit will lead us to souls that want that relationship or are seeking about God/Jesus.
I also believe that we have to prepare the soil of hearts as well, it might take many seeds to get planted in the heart before the understanding of an relationship is needed, although those seeds are not hell tactics.
I really don't think the scare tactic is fitting, it does not promote a relationship, it does not promote that a loving father is waiting for you (a sinner) to come home.
