Growing in Christ 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

It's been on my mind that we do go through dry spells where we don't feel God like we want to. I have heard people call it the "wilderness experience", comparing it to the time the Israelites spent in the wilderness for 40 years. I think it's a time of testing, a time where we learn to trust the Lord more. It's a time meant for us to grow. Jesus went through the same thing. We have to be careful not to base our walk with the Lord on our feelings. Go to the word and claim the promises there. Know that God is with you.

I suggest reading Psalm chapter 42, there you will see it is written from a perspective of someone possibly feeling distanced from God.
"My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?" Psalm 42:3 KJV

Learning more in depth about the Israelites in the wilderness helped me see my relationship with the Lord differently.
