Because they thought the word yoked alone handled all the intonations of the Greek word? Because the phrase unequally yoked comes from single word in Greek, Heterozugeo? I couldn't tell you... I don't know much Greek.

The translations are astonishly thorough in including the rest of Paul's admonition, though. The why's and wherefore's.

Why not an unequal yoke? Because light and darkness don't mix. Not because if darkness was in charge it would crush light, because light and darkness don't mix.

Not 'because if Belial was in charge he'd hurt Jesus,' but 'what harmony/accord is there between Christ and Belial.'

How can we say we're going to have harmony and accord as long as it's a meeting of equals or we are in the dominant position? We know Christ is in the dominant position, but He STILL has no harmony with Belial!
