Where do I start reading in the bible?
|
A great place to start reading the Bible is the book of John. There Jesus does a lot of teaching in his own words, and you can really get to know him as a person.
After the book of John, another great place to start reading the Bible is the book of Romans, which was written by Paul, an apostle of Jesus. Paul explains quite a bit in Romans about how we become saved by faith in Jesus, and how we are not saved by keeping the old Mosaic law.

Oh, and how do I fully understand what God is trying to teach me through the bible? I've read some parts, and it's hard for me to understand it all because of the way it is written. Any help?

If you have any questions, that's what this forum is all about
: discussing what different parts of the Bible mean. So you can start new threads here about different topics in the Bible which you want to discuss. There are quite a few people here who know the Bible well and can explain it to you. Don't get frustrated if you get some contradictory answers, for we are all learning together and we are all coming at the scriptures from different life experiences, which can color how we understand the scriptures. You will have to test each answer you get against what the Bible itself says, and see which answer lines up the best with every part of the Bible, and not just with one or two verses which can be understood in different ways.
May Jesus bless you as you read his Word the Holy Bible: "the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63). "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed" (John 8:31).
