I think I understand what you are saying. I believe I share the same affinity for that "certain man's" sermons.
I think the very best thing we can do is preach the unadulterated Gospel without watering it down or making it more palatable and pray earnestly for God to open hearts and eyes and ears according to His will so that men may come to salvation, as He calls them to Himself. Some scriptures: Jude 1 20But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. 21Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. 22Be merciful to those who doubt; 23snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. Look at Paul's great burden and zeal for his fellow countrymen. Romans 9 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— 2that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh. I think we must have zeal and real concern for the lost and that coupled with our love for God and desire to glorify Him in our words and actions should guide how we witness. I think an authentic witness pours forth from a heart sold out for God, walking in communion with Him. It is our natural desire to see our friends and family share in the same personal relationship with Christ that we have. Kind of like when you are in love with someone, and you can't wait to introduce all your friends and family to them so they can see how wonderful this person is and grow to love them too. Ultimately, it is God who does the drawing, calling, and opening of hearts. If we are obedient and preach His word, we are being willing vessels for His use. In Christ, Jen
