Moderators are NOT weenies....BUT (wee little title fix there!)

Moderators are weenies. You guys close threads way too easily when they really get good and heated up. I know you'll eventually close this one, too. I just figured I'd vent a little first. :P I'm sure your job isn't always easy, but you guys do spoil some of the fun. :2cents:

Hmm. Interesting point of view. However, I've seen numerous posts, some not lasting very long, that were really interesting but somebody got kinda upset at another poster and didn't exactly hide it and the mods saw this and said "Poof!" :dunno: I know the mods aren't evil or anything, just uptight.

I see what you're saying. Perhaps it'd better to just forbid the ones who are fighting to dialog in that thread, than to close the whole thing down.

Sometimes... it is too fast but then that depends on the moderator and ultimately that's their call. There are times when we reopen a thread after things have had some time to cool down or the thread has been cleaned up etc. Depends on a number of things really. Keep in mind that we do try and stay consistent but even then every mod is who they are. To one... it's just a little bit of a pee'ing contest and they'll work it out once they run dry. To another mod... it's a blood bath. Myself... most are just pee'ing contest and save a person or two in the thread... it's sort of fun to watch. :) But then I am sort of twisted like that in my wiring.

We really do try to remain consistent but that's got to be loosely defined taking into account personalities of the mod's. If it is just a bad call then we can fix it easy enough. If it is simply a judgment call... then we'll likely let that rest on the mod's decision. Often times... the mod themselves reopen the thread after a day or so of chilling out. Some though, just need to stay closed. Once a thread has gone 400 or so post and it gets shut down... usually best to let that puppy stay shut down.

That's the first time I've been called that! I've accepted the title of "Board Meanie" and just about learned to live with it....

Usually folks end up getting madder at ME than someone else in the thread.
