Thread: Favorite Lyrics....

Well I first heard this song when I was 12 years old in November 2000 and it was a really horrible, dark and troublesome time in my life. The lowest it's ever been! The Lord was working to bring me down and destroy the pride and self-confidence I'd developed and it was painful because I tried to resist and didn't listen to him. What could have been quick turned into 3 very sad years of my life until the Lord fixed me just in the last 6 months of last year.

However, these words from Robin Mark's "Jesus, all for Jesus":- "All of my ambitions, hopes and plans I surrender these into your hands"

I definitely needed to do that in my life and through this song the Lord spoke to me and I heard him. This hymn is definitely one of my favourites because even as I was sad and wanted to just cry and hide away from the world this song would resound in my head and I'd know there was hope and I got comfort from it. The Lord taught me a lesson that I've not forgotten and something I keep reminding myself of whenever something good happens to keep me in check!

    Yours in Christ,

    David

I like Don Fransisco's style of Song and how teaches through them:

    ---
    The Package

I was awakened in the morning by a knocking at the door.
So I got up to see what all that knocking was for.
And there stood the devil with a box addressed to ME!
He said 'Boy, I've got something that you really oughta see!'

I said 'I know I do not want it if its anything from you'
'Cos I don't like anything you say or anything you do.'
Then he pointed with his finger and his smile kind of sly.
He said 'This box came from Gawd. From the corner way up high.'

I said 'If it came by God, then why did it come here with you?'
He said 'He always gives me dirty work to do.'
'This box is full of misery, poverty and shame'
'To perfect you from your suffering so your worthy of his name.'

Well I've been pretty patient but that last line took the cake.
I just couldn't take no more. I said 'There's no more I can take.'
And then I told him what I thought of him and all his filthy LIES!
And then I fired a shot at God right between the eyes...

I said that 'Jesus took my sickness and my poverty AWAY,'
'When you were there yourself when you murdered him that day,'
'The suffering that I'd do would be for love not for shame'
'I'm already worthy of his blood and to wear his name.'

'And I know my father loves me and has only GOOD in store,'
'So you just take your job and get away from my front door.'
'You can write my name on packages till I'm ninety-two,'
'But every single one-of-em will go back to hell with you.'

    ---

    God will make a way
    by Dan Moen
    God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
    He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness
    He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
    Heaven and earth will fade
But His word will still remain
He will do something new today.

I guess the reason that I like the Selah version better is because they are singing to the Lord, but I am not sure who Josh Groban is referring to when he say "You raise me up...". I have heard many of the other songs on his CD on Napster, and he tends to sing a lot of romantic ballads. He may be singing to a woman here, which kind of ruins the song for me...... Besides, he has an OK voice, but I like the voices of the members of Selah better (especially the first guy...)

    Hillsong United - One Way

I lay my life down at Your feet
'Cause You're the only One I need
I turn to You and You are always there

In troubled times it's You I seek
I put You first, that's all I need
I humble all I am, all to You

    One way, Jesus
You're the only One that I could live for
    One way, Jesus
You're the only One that I could live for

    You are always, always there
    Every how and every where
Your grace abound so deeply within me

    You will never ever change
    Yesterday, today the same
Forever 'till forever meets no end

    One way, Jesus
You're the only One that I could live for
    One way, Jesus
You're the only One that I could live for

You are the Way, the Truth and the Life
We live by faith and not by sight, for You
    We're living all for You

This is my favorite song from our Young People's Songbook.
It goes to a tune of an old rock song - I think the original song may be
called "Killing me softly with his song" - at least that is in the chorus of the
    original.

This song really expresses how I feel and felt about my salvation.

    1 I just existed empty, not knowing what life was for;
Until one day someone told me
    That there was something more;
At first I wouldn't take it - it seemed too simple to me!

Calling His name, "O Lord Jesus!"
    Saying, "Amen," when He speaks.
Filling my spirit with His life,
Filling my whole life with His life,
Flooding my living with His life,
Filling my whole life with His life.

2 But then at length I tried it - first softly to myself.
As I called I felt like someone
    Sick brought back to health.
The flow of life within me, I'd never felt before.

3 Then as I called on Jesus, I felt that I'd been found!
I was so full; I was calling
    "Jesus!" right out loud.
I'd never dreamed that I could know reality by -

4 And now I'm full and happy, so satisfied with Him,
Because He has come and filled me
    Clear up past the brim
His life is now my portion - I'll go on all my life, just -

I heard this song on the radio when I was about 11 or 12, and I automatically thought of our Lord. I dont even think it's a Christian song, because it's by Vitamin C. But it's still how I feel.

As long as You're loving me - Vitamin C

    I believe in You
And this is real for me
The love I feel for You
    Didn't come so naturally
    At first I was afraid
    Couldn't fight the fight
I couldn't keep the Light on
    With any other lights

Now I'm ready for the world
    No matter what it brings
Because I feel all my dreams coming true

As long as You're loving me
As long as You're loving me
    I can move mountains
    I can part the seas
    My heart will be open
    For eternity
As long as You're loving me

    This is what feels good
    This is what feels right
From the moment I wake up
    Until we say goodnight
And I'm stronger than I was
I've reached down and I've touched
    It's easier to lie down
    With You on my side

And now I'm ready for the world
    No matter how it spins
Because I'll always be in it with You

As long as You're loving me
As long as You're loving me
    I can move mountains
    I can part the seas
    My heart will be open
    For eternity
As long as You're loving me

This is a beautiful song. Don't know who originally composed it though.

    Forever My Love

The nails in Your hands, the nail in Your feet
They tell me how much you love me
The thorns on your brow, they tell me how
You bore so much pain to love me

And when the heavens pass away
All your scars will still remain
    And forever they will say
How much you love me (and I want to say)

Forver my love, forever my heart
    Forever my life is Yours...
    Nothing more. Nothing less.
My faith in Christ is righteousness!
Jesus came to save us, His Spirit to change us.
Christ covers OUR imperfection with HIS perfection!!!

I just bought this CD a while back and I love this song.

    Kutless - Sea of Faces

I see the city lights all around me
    Everyone's obscure
Ten million people each with their problems
    Why should anyone care

And in Your eyes I can see
I am not just a man, vastly lost in this world
Lost in a Sea of Faces
Your body's the bread, Your blood is the wine
Because you traded Your life for mine

Sometimes my life it feels so trivial
Immersed in the greatness of space
Yet somehow you still find the time for me
It's then You show me Your love

And In Your eyes I can see
And in Your arms I will be
I am not just a man, vastly lost in this world
Lost in a Sea of Faces
Your body's the bread, Your blood is the wine
Because you traded Your life for mine

    If only my one heart
Was all you'd gain from all it cost
Well I know you would have still been a man
    With a reason
    To willingly offer your life

I am not just a man, vastly lost in this world
Lost in a Sea of Faces
Your body's the bread, Your blood is the wine
Because you traded Your life for mine

Just one in a million faces
This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came in to the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
    1 Timothy 1:15

If you Only Knew, by Randy Travis

By my grandfather's bed, my mother is reading,
Psalm 62, God is our refuge,
My grandfather stirs, could it be,
he is waking, one final time,
    he has something to say,

If you only knew what lies awaiting
If you could only see what I can see
If you could only hear the music playing
    The angels singing sweet victory
Oh, if you only knew, if you only knew,
    How much he loves you

By my grandfather's bed, my mother is broken,
Psalm 17, O God I call on you,
    She doesn't want to hear
    Any words about leaving
    My grandfather says
Fear not, this is my time,
And into his presence I'll fly

If you only knew what lies awainting
If you could only see what I can see
If you could only hear the music playing
    The angels singing sweet victory
Oh, if you only knew, if you only knew,
    How much he loves you

I The Lord Of Sea And Sky(Here I am LORD)

    Chorus:
    Here I am, Lord.
    Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

    Verse 1:
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in deepest sin
    my hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright,
Who will bear my light to them?
    Whom shall I send?
    Chorus

    Verse 2:
I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them,
    They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them,
    Whom shall I send?
    Chorus
    Verse 3:
I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them,
    My hand will save.
    Finest bread I will provide
    till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
    Whom shall I send?

    Chorus

Here is another song I love from our Young People's Songbook -
I think it is by Howard Higachi

Lord, keep my heart always true to You,
    Never back-sliding, always viewing You,
A heart that is pure that sees only You,
A heart that loves You and treasures only You.

Lord, keep my love burning brightly for You,
A love never dwindling, always hot for You,
A love shining brighter all the way for You,
A love so fresh like the day I first touched You.

Lord, take my life, I present it to You.
If I had a thousand, I'd pour all on You.
Nothing withholding, my all is for You.
My life and my future, dear Lord, is all for You.

Your love constrains me to give my all to You.
Lord, I can't help it; my heart is drawn to You.
Oh, what a privilege; I give myself to You.
I love you, Lord! Dearest Lord, I love You!
    I just love You!
...be strengthened with power through His Spirit into the inner man, that Christ may make His home in your hearts through faith, that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be full of strength to apprehend with all the saints what the breadth and length and height and depth are and to know the knowledge-surpassing love of Christ, that you may be filled unto all the fullness of God. josh groban my favorite...
That is as close to perfection as a voice can get on this earth..
If you wait a minute after the first song it also plays others..
What an amazing beautfull tenor voice he has..
Just as I would imagine angels would sound in heaven....
