    Still praying for this situation...

    God bless
"People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; We drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

    Mugabe raises spectre of war

Harare - Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe raised the spectre of war on Friday by warning that his staunchest supporters were ready to take up arms rather than let the opposition triumph in a June 27 election. In comments carried by state media, the 84-year-old said veterans of the 1970s liberation war had told him they were ready to go into battle once more to avoid the prospect of Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai coming to power after the run-off in a fortnight's time.

    Handcuffed Biti arrives in court

It is 2 weeks before the run-off and Zim is in a terrible state.

The deputy leader of Zimbabwe's opposition party Tendai Biti arrived in a Harare court on Saturday, which is due to rule on the legality of his arrest on treason charges.
The secretary general of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) arrived shortly after noon in handcuffs, escorted by an armed policeman.

Police and military rule in Zim?

It appears that the military and police are ruling at the moment.
    Please pray.

    Biti back in jail

Police brought the Zimbabwe opposition's No 2 leader to court on Saturday - but only after a judge had to repeat his order.

Reporters watched as Tendai Biti, handcuffed and appearing tense, was brought into Justice Ben Hlatshwayo's court. He said "fine" when reporters asked how he was. Police have said they will charge Biti, who is secretary-general of the Movement for Democratic Change, with treason, a charge party spokesperson Nqobizitha Mlilo called "politically motivated."

    Prayer

    Father,
    I pray for Zim:

who makes wars to cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow, and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots in the fire. (Psa 46:9)

In the Name of Yeshua, amen.

    Moonglow,
    Thanks for all the prayers

my God; in Him I will trust (Psa 91:2).

Let’s ensure Mugabe hears our message loud and clear

As the situation in Zimbabwe deteriorates each day, the international community owes it to the Zimbabwean people to take a strong, decisive stand against what is happening in their country and in support of their democratic aspirations.

We owe it to their dignity as a people who fought for their freedom, to their legacy of agricultural richness and to their previously high levels of education.
It is rare that the world witnesses the rise and fall of a once-free, democratic nation in such a short time, but just over the border, President Robert Mugabe’s machinery of oppression and fear has replaced hope and independence with terror.

The time for speaking softly is over.

    UK brands Zim rule 'sadistic'

London - Britain's foreign secretary likened President Robert Mugabe's rule in Zimbabwe to "sadism" on Sunday and said South Africa had a responsibility to do more to bring pressure to bear on its neighbour.
David Miliband said countries had a duty to speak frankly about the crisis in the country as Mugabe's security forces ratchet up their intimidation of opposition leaders ahead of a presidential run-off election on June 27. "The first thing is to be clear about the sadism, and I use that word advisedly, that's going on ... in Zimbabwe at the moment," Miliband told BBC television.

Get rid of sell-outs - Mugabe

I am praying that a new democratic government will take over the rule.

Harare - Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was quoted on Sunday as saying he would be willing to hand power to a ruling party ally when he was sure the country was safe from "sell-outs" and from British interference.
But the state-run Sunday Mail newspaper said he gave no time-frame and again vowed to stop the opposition taking power. Mugabe is fighting for re-election in a June 27 run-off against Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). The opposition leader won the first round in March, but not with enough votes to take the presidency.

Britain leads call for Zimbabwe sanctions to punish Mugabe for stealing election

Britain and its international allies will urge South Africa to cut off electricity supplies to Zimbabwe if Robert Mugabe steals the election in two weeks’ time, The Times has learnt.

Plans are being drawn up to persuade Zimbabwe’s allies to mount an economic blockade and diplomats are considering a ban on the children of the elite going to school in Europe if Mr Mugabe loses the election but refuses to step down.

    Zim cops search Biti's home

Zim is no longer a real democracy. Please continue to pray.

Harare - Zimbabwean police on Monday searched the home and computer of the opposition's number two leader, who is facing a treason charge ahead of a June 27 presidential run-off, his lawyer said. Tendai Biti, Secretary General of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), was due in court on Monday, but police were likely to delay the appearance, said Lewis Uriri.

    Mugabe rejects 'mere X'

This very weak democracy is falling apart. Please pray for our neighbour.

Harare/Johannesburg - President Robert Mugabe has indicated clearly for the first time that he will disregard the result of elections if his Zanu-PF party loses, according to reports in the state press on Monday.
"We fought for this country and a lot of blood was shed," the state-controlled daily Herald quoted him as telling a rally on Sunday in Silobela, a village in the country's central midlands province. "We are not going to give up our country because of a mere X. How can a ballpoint pen fight with a gun?"

    Woman's hands, feet hacked off

Harare - The Pan-African Parliament observer mission, one of only two official observer groups in Zimbabwe before the June 27 run-off presidential election, on Tuesday confirmed that government supporters had hacked off the hands and feet of a woman and then firebombed her house. "Our team has been to her graveside. She was chopped," said Marwick Khumalo, the head of the observer group. "The man (her husband, Patson Chipiro) is living in fear."

South African president makes last-ditch appeal to Robert Mugabe

At last our president is doing something !!!

South African President Thabo Mbeki arrived in Zimbabwe today in a last-ditch attempt to try and persuade Robert Mugabe to compromise ahead of next week’s presidential run-off poll, the credibility of which has largely been dismissed.

Government sources said Mr Mbeki, the official mediator for Zimbabwe, arrived in the capital Harare just before 1pm local time (1100 GMT) and went straight into a meeting with the South African ambassador.
In recent days, African diplomats have expressed concern over the mounting levels of violence in the country and said a free and fair poll was not possible.

Zim on the brink of anarchy

I am going away for 3 days and will have no Internet access. Please pray for Zim.

Johannesburg - Zimbabwe was teetering on the edge of lawlessness and anarchy, the US Ambassador to Zimbabwe, James McGee, said in Pretoria on Thursday.
"It is a country on the brink of starvation. It has already fallen off the precipice of economic collapse and is sinking into a seemingly bottomless abyss," McGee told the Centre for International Political Studies at the University of Pretoria.
