Confident Tony Blair sells his step-by-step Middle East remedy

Tony Blair made a strong case yesterday for why it might be possible for outside brokers — such as himself — to lessen the damage done by the Israeli-Palestinian deadlock, even if they cannot yet resolve it. Speaking to a House of Commons committee, with many references to Northern Ireland (and, he might have added, to his creation of new Labour) he clearly drew on his belief in his personal ability to bridge incompatible positions.

It's easy, after Iraq, to recoil from his self-belief: that with a direct gaze, leaning across a table, he can bring enemies together. He overstates the parallels with Northern Ireland.

Food, fuel crises 'a global threat'

London - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Friday that action to curb the rising costs of food and fuel could be vital to global stability.
Following talks in London with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Ban said that rapidly rising commodity prices could cause political and security problems around the globe.
"Unless we properly manage this issue, this could trigger a cascade of other challenges and crises - affecting not just social and economic issues, but also political and security issues," Ban said.

50% of teens have eating disorder

Between 50 and 60% of teenagers develop some kind of eating disorder, according to a survey released today.

Teens who don't get better on their own usually have many other mental and physical problems, the study demonstrates.

In Western cultures, Hautala and her colleagues note, disordered eating is relatively common among adolescents. Eating disorder symptoms will last for one to two years in 50 percent to 60 percent of teens, while just one in 10 adolescents with eating disorder symptoms will develop an eating disorder that persists into adulthood.

Iraq Says Talks on Pact With U.S. at Impasse

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s negotiations with the United States on a security agreement governing America’s long-term involvement in the country are at an impasse because America’s demands infringe upon Iraq’s sovereignty, the country’s prime minister said Friday.

The comments were the first by the prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki, in which he explicitly detailed the main points of contention between the United States and the Iraqi government on the security agreement, which would authorize American forces and operations in Iraq after a United Nations mandate expires at the end of the year.

The Significance of Israel to End-time Prophecies

A large part of the Bible deals with Israel. In a very special sense they are the chosen people of God. He called them to be a holy people and led them to the Promised Land; He then dispersed them among the nations because of their disobedience; and it is the same immutable covenant God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who will restore Israel to the land of their fathers in the end-time.
In 1980, a Sabbatical Year, Jerusalem was declared the eternal, undivided capital of Israel, and Prime Minister Begin moved his office from Tel Aviv to Yerushalayim, the city of destiny.

The prophet Daniel describes the last 70 year-weeks (490 prophetic years of 360 days each) that will pass in the history of Israel before they enter the time of everlasting righteousness (Dan. 9:24-27). Of this period, 69 year-weeks (483 years) have passed between the decree by Artaxerxes in the year 445 BC that Jerusalem was to be rebuilt (Neh. 2:1‑8), and the death of Jesus on the cross in AD 32. Then the clock stopped ticking for Israel as a nation in the divine plan of God, and the time for the evangelisation of the non-Jewish world began. That meant that Israel would temporarily lose its position as a unique people and representative of God, and that all people, including the dispersed Israelites, would be given the opportunity to accept the Lord Jesus as Messiah and enter the kingdom of God by becoming members of the church (or body) of Christ.

At the start of the 70th year-week of seven years, Israel will enter into a covenant with the false messiah (Antichrist). Daniel 9:27 reads: “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week.” The false messiah will appear on the scene as a diplomat and peacemaker.

After the Messiah has made His appearance on the Mount of Olives and revealed Himself as the One crucified by Israel during His first coming two thousand years ago, a time of great mourning will follow. This mourning will lead to the salvation of the whole remnant of Israel.

To ensure God’s blessing upon us, we must bless Israel. God said to Abraham, the founding father of Israel, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Gen. 12:3).

We must also pray for the peace of Jerusalem if we wish to prosper in our own country (Ps. 122:6).

What do they consider an eating disorder?
    Laughing at the world
    Watching it bend
    Enjoying the show
    Just waiting for the end

    Not worried a bit
as I walk through the mist
    By God I will sit
    And watch the world twist

    In Him I will trust
And only Him I will fear
When the world turns to dust
    I know He'll be near

It's meaningless rhetoric. He's not saying there will or will not be an agreement and he is stating the obvious that Israel will remain a Jewish state... It sounds good and all but if you think about it, he's not saying anything we don't already know.

I heard something on the news, but very short and quick. Something about Japan making it a law that the people can't be over weight? A mans waist size had to be 33" or less and a woman 35" or less. Anyone else hear anything about that?

I am not into date setting, but I agree that the Rapture might be much closer thank we think.

Some very interesting signs to look at:

    2007/2008 is a Sabbatical Year.
2008 - The first of three solar eclipses on the day that introduces the first of Av (partial eclipse on 1 August 2008). Av 9 is the day when Jews lament the destruction of their temples. The days leading up to Tisha B'Av are known as The Nine Days. However, there will come a time when God will reverse the fast days and turn them into feast days, Zechariah said in Zech. 8:19
2009 - The second of three solar eclipses on Av 1: 22 July 2009
2010 - The third of three solar eclipses on Av 1: 11 July 2010

2014 / 2015 - The Sabbatical year 25 Sep. 2014 – 13 Sep. 2015 will have 2 solar eclipses and 4 total lunar eclipses. This will happen on Biblical or Jewish holidays.
The four total lunar eclipses will occur on: Passover, 15 April 2014; The Feast of Tabernacles, 8 October 2014; Passover, 4 April 2015 and The Feast of Tabernacles, 28 September 2015. It will not happen again in the 21st century. Two solar eclipses will occur on: Adar 29/Nisan 1, 20 March 2015; The Feast of Trumpets, 13 September 2015. Nisan 1 marks the beginning of the religious festival cycle. On Tishri 1, the Jews observe Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets. This year is 28 years after 1986 / 87.This day is highly prophetic, because it is said to be the anniversary of the Creation of Adam. It is Adam’s birthday.

2021/2022 will be again a Sabbaticla Year.

i heard that the government spend more money on weapons than
    food....

*sigh* this panics me so much because people in my country, especially my love ones & families are starving, which is Philippines. They're having such a hard time to buy rice since it has limits now. Rice is one of the most essential food in my country. I'm not only concerned about the rice issues, i heard that meat prices are going up too. This makes me depressed and think so much..

Now, i have 2 jobs just to support them..and those money belongs to them, not mines..

Irish voters sign death warrant for EU's Lisbon treaty

Irish voters tore up the European Union’s blueprint for the future yesterday in a dramatic and decisive rejection of the Lisbon treaty.
The result leaves Brussels’ plans to streamline EU power – creating a president and foreign minister and reducing the influence for smaller countries such as Ireland – in tatters.

The 53.4 per cent “no” vote should in theory sign the death warrant of the treaty, which has been eight years in the making, since it requires ratification by all 27 members. Gordon Brown faced immediate calls to scrap British ratification.

Plan Would Lift Saudi Oil Output to Highest Ever

The increase could bring Saudi output to a production level of 10 million barrels a day, which, if sustained, would be the kingdom’s highest ever. The move was seen as a sign that the Saudis are becoming increasingly nervous about both the political and economic effect of high oil prices. In recent weeks, soaring fuel costs have incited demonstrations and protests from Italy to Indonesia.

Hi, Roelof! I've been following this in the news for the past couple of days. The latest I've heard is that, in spite of the "no" vote by Ireland, the BBC is reporting that Britain will indeed go on with the ratification of the treaty, and Jose Manuel Barroso is urging the member states to continue with their plans to ratify it. He is saying that the treaty is "alive" and that the EU should work to find a solution to this. If the reports are true, it sounds to me as if they will be trying to push the treaty into existence, even though their own rules are that if one member state doesn't ratify, the treaty is to be scrapped.
