This is strange and will have a big impact on Israel. Maybe the US will help with the restoration and build-up of Babylon?

New agreement lets US strike any country from inside Iraq

    By Basil Adas, Correspondent
    Published: June 03, 2008, 13:42
Baghdad: A proposed Iraqi-American security agreement will include permanent American bases in the country, and the right for the United States to strike, from within Iraqi territory, any country it considers a threat to its national security, Gulf News has learned.

Senior Iraqi military sources have told Gulf News that the long-term controversial agreement is likely to include three major items.

Under the agreement, Iraqi security institutions such as Defence, Interior and National Security ministries, as well as armament contracts, will be under American supervision for ten years.

The agreement is also likely to give American forces permanent military bases in the country, as well as the right to move against any country considered to be a threat against world stability or acting against Iraqi or American interests

The military source added, "According to this agreement, the American forces will keep permanent military bases on Iraqi territory, and these will include Al Asad Military base in the Baghdadi area close to the Syrian border, Balad military base in northern Baghdad close to Iran, Habbaniyah base close to the town of Fallujah and the Ali Bin Abi Talib military base in the southern province of Nasiriyah close to the Iranian border."

The sources confirmed that the American army is in the process of completing the building of the military facilities and runways for the permanent bases.

He added that the American air bases in Kirkuk and Mosul will be kept for no longer than three years. However, he said there were efforts by the Americans to include the Kirkuk base in the list of permanent bases.

The sources also said that a British brigade was expected to remain at the international airport in Basra for ten years as long as the American troops stayed in the permanent bases in Iraq.

Iraqi analysts said that the second item of the controversial agreement which permits American forces on Iraqi territories to launch military attacks against any country it considers a threat is addressed primarily to Iran and Syria.

Iran has raised serious concerns in the past few days over the Iraqi-American security agreement and followed it with issuing religious fatwas and called for demonstrations, mainly by the powerful Shiite leader Moqtada Al Sadr movement, who is close to Iran, against the agreement.

This is very significant news. I read this morning that the US would like to destroy the nuclear plants of Iran.

If we consider the following, the changes are high that war might break out in the Middle East during Aug / Sep 2008:

2008 - The first of three solar eclipses on the day that introduces the first of Av (partial eclipse on 1 August 2008). Av 9 is the day when Jews lament the destruction of their temples. The days leading up to Tisha B'Av are known as The Nine Days. However, there will come a time when God will reverse the fast days and turn them into feast days, Zechariah said in Zech. 8:19
2009 - The second of three solar eclipses on Av 1: 22 July 2009
2010 - The third of three solar eclipses on Av 1: 11 July 2010

Are you aware that the KJV has it right?

The beast does not hate the harlot.
The beast will not be involved in burning the harlot city of Tyre.

    v 17
"For God hath put in their hearts..."

This is the same group that v 16 has as will hate the harlot.

to give their kingdom unto the beast

    Babylon and New Age

According to Revelation 17, the origin of the false world religion of the end-time period can be traced back to Babylon. The ancient Babylonian Empire that was founded by Nimrod, was governed in close association with the heathen religion of that time. The marriage between religion and politics was so intimate that this empire was controlled by a priest-king who made use of occult powers and astrology to take decisions and to rule. The king was the personification of the sun-god, who was regarded as the giver of light and life. This superstition gave rise to the cult of the sun-pillars, from which the later obelisks and peace-poles of modern times evolved. Revelation 17 and 18 describe how a neo-Babylonian government, religion and economy will be established before the Second Coming of Christ. The roots of the New Age Movement, therefore, go very far back in time – it is nothing new!

The end-time emergence of the New Age Movement is linked to the Russian-born Madame Helena Blavatsky who founded the Theosophical Society in New York in 1875. She received her revelations and commands directly from a spiritual master with whom she had telepathic contact. She offered herself as a medium to higher (demonic) powers that worked through her.

As a result of these revelations, she published the book Isis Unveiled in 1877, and the six volume The Secret Doctrine in 1888. In these volumes she expounded the secret doctrine that, according to her master, forms the foundation of all religious, philosophical and knowledge systems.

Mugabe condemned for ban on food aid

Accused of genocide, callous contempt for life and deliberately causing starvation, the Zimbabwean Government faced an outpouring of international anger yesterday after its decision to halt all aid operations in the country in the run-up to the deciding presidential vote.
Foreign agencies and governments raised fears of dire consequences for the already fragile humanitarian situation if the ban was not lifted.
The United Nations said that the decision spelt disaster for four million Zimbabweans dependent on food aid after the collapse of the agricultural sector.

John is just being told the location as to where he saw the ten horns.
Look at how verse 16 must connect to 17.

    verse 17
"For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will...give their kingdom..."
in their hearts - this part requires the reader to have learned that designated group in the previous verse.

    so
Verse 16 is only referring to the ones that will give their kingdom to the beast.

Verse 17 is carrying on with the same group as was mentioned in verse 16.

    Middle East burning issues

The reason for this thread is that I believe the "End of the End Times" started in the Sabbatical Year 1986/87 and the Middle East will play a major role.

    Obama Torpedoes the Palestinian State

Presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama took only 14 words to effectively put paid to the idea that a third Palestinian State -- in addition to Israel and Jordan -- will be created during his term as President if he wins the forthcoming election in November.

Addressing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in Washington this week Mr Obama declared: "[A]ny agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state."

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised at Obama's stance on the Israel issue.

Hi, Roelof! I do feel that these current food shortages around the globe are a sign that Jesus spoke of when He said their would be famines before His return. Just this year in particular, much of today's headlines center around the food crisis. There have been rice shortages, corn shortages, and wheat shortages, among many other food substances. Revelation 6:5-6 speaks of the apocalyptic black horse bringing famine. It says a loaf of wheat bread or three loaves of barley will sell for a day's pay! I suspect that we've just seen the beginning of this food crisis and that it will grow worse and worse until the black horse begins its ride. I know some people believe the horses are already riding, and that may be true. I don't know. My theory is that the first horse, the white horse, represents the rise of the antiChrist, so the following horses would ride after he is made known to the world. That's just a theory, though.

Anyway, here's a link to an article regarding the wheat crisis. I found this very interesting in relation to the Revelation 6 reference to wheat bread.

Everyone had better pay a little closer attention to Obama and his use of things we call "words".

    He said this (from Jpost):

"Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided," Obama declared Wednesday, to rousing applause from the 7,000-plus attendees at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference.
Sounds good. But his campaign said this (from Jpost):

But a campaign adviser clarified Thursday that Obama believes "Jerusalem is a final status issue, which means it has to be negotiated between the two parties" as part of "an agreement that they both can live with."

He refused to rule out other configurations, such as the city also serving as the capital of a Palestinian state or Palestinian sovereignty over Arab neighborhoods.
Obama also said this at AIPAC:

"Let me be clear," Obama said, "Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive and that allows them to prosper.
Oh how wonderful - oh wait - Wait! Did he just promise the Palestinians "a state that is contiguous and cohesive"? That would divide Israel into two states.

Now is probably time to intrduce to everyone a very key person in Obama's campaign:
Obama delegate Yousef Yee. Ever hear of that name? James "Yousef" Yee, a former Army Muslim chaplain charged with espionage while serving at Gitmo, will represent Washington state for Obama at the Democratic National Convention, where he'll likely have a center-stage speaking role.

Yousef Yee was caught returning to the U.S. with maps of Gitmo prison facilities, among other classified materials, and was arrested at a U.S. airport. He was charged with espionage, mishandling classified documents and lying to investigators. There's no question that Yee, a captain who converted to Islam, was sympathetic to al-Qaida and Taliban captives at Gitmo. These charges were dropped because, as Guantanamo commander Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller explains (who originally accused Yee of spying) that there were "national security concerns that would arise from the release of the evidence" if the case moved to trial. (info above from from Investors Business Daily).

I have no idea what Obama really believes about anything. Nothing should ever be inferred from any words he uses. We must look at his associations for clues.
