Why are atheists so bitter? (moved from A&E subform)

There are so many posts in here that are incorrect, it's really dissappointing. If you run across a bitter atheist, there could be a number of reasons. Maybe they're pondering the attempted introduction of ID into public schools as science...maybe he just got surrounded by Christians for a prayer circle when all he wanted from the store was a gallon of milk...who knows? I am not bitter at all, and neither are a lot of my atheist buddies. We enjoy the company of Christians, Muslims, Wiccans, Buddhists, etc. However, I will give you a few of your own quotes to give you an idea of why some are bitter:

"Another thing I think is interesting is that, by declaring oneself to be an atheist, one identifies oneself directly in relation to God. I think that itself demonstrates that they have an inner personal struggle against God."
--You can't have a struggle with something that doesn't exist...null point

"God doesn't exist and I hate him - the atheist"
--Yet again, you can't hate something that doesn't exist. I don't hate the idea of God or anything like that, so this is not a good explanation.

"As an Atheist, I was able to abandon any kind of moral imperative."
--Misunderstanding. You are the only atheist I know of that actually believed this nonsense. I don't think atheism made you evil...you did that on your own. However, you are living a better life and I commend you for it.

"It is very difficult to"win" arguments with this people.
Just ask them "If you die within the next 5 minutes, where will your sole be?""
--Hopefully still attached to me shoes lol...j/k. You have to prove there is soul. If there is, who is to say where it goes? I've never seen a soul go anywhere, so I really don't know what happens after death. And the fact that I don't know doesn't bother me at all. If there is a judgement afterwards, hopefully they will judge me more on my good deeds than my thoughts.

"A lot of atheists don't seem to be rejecting God and religion, but Christianity. Atheists and Wiccans seem to have good "working relationships" so to speak. "
--This is simple to explain. Wiccans and atheists are both minorities in this country, so we find comfort with each other. I'm married to a Wiccan as a matter of fact. She never judges me on what I think, and I return the favor to her. Most Wiccans are very open minded as well, something I don't run into very often (I do live in the Bible Belt mind you).

"That's the underlying message in my OP. It seems like they are conflicted about their nature and beliefs and rightfully so because they are wrong."
--I don't feel conflicted at all. And when it comes to god, it's not really a belief...it's a LACK of belief. Big difference.

"Instead, we should pity them - it is hard to become angry with those you pity."
--I think this is one of the biggest ones. When I read things like this, I can't help but think that Christians believe they are high and mighty...that they see something that my miniscule mind can't comprehend, and thus they feel sorry for me. I'm not weak, I'm not stupid. I am very cautious about any religion that may want me to join their ranks. They need to prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that they are right. So far, Christianity has failed. The door is always open though

"I think the reason they're so bitter is because they realize that this life is all there is. They know this life isn't going to last forever, and no one gets every single thing they want out of life."
--I actually love the idea that this is all there is. Every day that goes by, I try to squeeze everything I can out of it. There are so many things I want to do in life, and I know I won't have enough time to do it all. So I might as well get my booty in gear and get it done! When time is precious, you notice that all the things in life are wonderful.

"I think they are also narcisisitic and are the most important people in their own minds. Belittling Christians helps them keep the illusion alive."
--This is a pretty bold statement. Last I checked, I'm not narcissistic at all. Chalk that up as a reason why atheists may be a little peeved...the world thinks we only care about ourselves.

I feel that true Christians are wonderful people...but there are a lot of people who will talk the talk but don't go near walking the walk. For all of you true Christians, I hope you continue to receive the joy you deserve. To the phonies...you should hope that you're wrong, or you may be going somewhere that gets a little warm in the winter

Personally, I'd like an explanation as to how Christianity has failed. One-liners don't really prove any of the points attemted to be made by the original post. Also, they are subjective to one person's experience. My 31 years as an Atheist were obviously not the same as his however many years. All it took for me to "see the light" (sorry about the cliche) was a little educational digging, study of both Christian and non-Christian history, scientific studies (also both C and non-C,) and a quick scan of current events. It all adds up if you really take an educated look.

When you live under moral relativism, and have no basis of truth, the inner conflict between right verses wrong causes a lot of stress and internal strife. Over a prolonged period of time, this turns to anger and bitterness. People who do not have faith in God have nowhere to turn for forgiveness or to know if there is everlasting existence.

Since atheists cannot ground themselves in any absolute truth, it's no wonder they suffer so much and have anger issues.

LOL guys, that could be a little confusing. This was a reply to "Why Are Atheists so Bitter" in a different section of the board. Since I do not proclaim faith in God, I am limited to posting in only a few sections. I thought a one time exception to the rule would be acceptable since the question seemed more geared TOWARDS an atheist. Not really any questions from me right now, but I will have some tonight at work. Thanks!

OK, since this isn't a question I'm going to close the thread.

HeadCreeps, when you have a question you would like us to answer just go ahead and start another thread in here, and we'll get right on it
1Jn 4:1 NKJV Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1Th 5:21-22 NKJV Test all things; hold fast what is good. (22) Abstain from every form of evil.
