Jerusalem (the Holy City)...this one which my mother used to sing when I was small, and it affected me so strongly I would weep for the beauty of it all:
Last night I lay a-sleeping
There came a dream so fair,
I stood in old Jerusalem
Beside the temple there.
I heard the children singing,
And ever as they sang,
Me thought the voice of angels
From heaven in answer rang.
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Lift up your gates and sing,
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
And then me thought my dream was changed,
The streets no longer rang,
Hushed were the glad Hosannas
The little children sang.
The sun grew dark with mystery,
The morn was cold and chill,
As the shadow of a cross arose
Upon a lonely hill.
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Hark! How the angels sing,
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
And once again the scene was changed;
New earth there seemed to be;
I saw the Holy City
Beside the tideless sea;
The light of God was on its streets,
The gates were open wide,
And all who would might enter,
And no one was denied.
No need of moon or stars by night,
Or sun to shine by day;
It was the new Jerusalem
That would not pass away.
Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Sing for the night is o'er!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna for evermore!

Ek staan in ou Jerusalem

JERUSALEM
Laasnag het in my drome, ‘n wonderbeeld verskyn
Jerusalem Jerusalem, sing nou ‘n loflied saam
Jerusalem Jerusalem, sing nou ‘n loflied saam
Jerusalem Jerusalem, sing nou ‘n loflied saam

John saw the city, that could not be hid
John saw this city, oh yes he did
John saw a glimpse of the golden throne
tell me all about it, go right on
around the throne he say a crystal sea
there's got to be more, what will it be
i want to go, to that city he saw
Chorus:
New Jerusalem
Jerusalem
i want to walk, your streets that are golden
and i want to run, where the angels have trod
Jerusalem
i want to rest, on the banks of your river
in that city, the city of God
John saw the lion, lay down by the lamb
i wanna know everything about that land
John saw the day but he did not see night
the lamb of God well, he must be the light
and he saw the saints worship the great I AM
crying worthy, worthy is the lamb
i want to go to that city he saw
(Chorus)
Jerusalem, Jerusalem
sing for the night is o'er
Hosanna in the highest
Hosanna forever
forever more
Jerusalem,
i want to walk, your streets that are golden
and i want to run, where the angels have trod
Jerusalem
i want to rest, on the banks of your river
in that city, the city of God
city of God
its Jerusalem
Jerusalem
city of God
its the city of God

Vertaling
(Chorus)
Jeruzalem, Jeruzalem!
zingen voor de nacht is o'er
Hosanna in de hoogste
Hosanna voor eeuwig
altijd meer
Jeruzalem,

Isa 11:7 Die koei en die berin wei, en hulle kleintjies lê bymekaar; en die leeu eet strooi soos die os;
http://www.learnthebible.org/the-lion-and-lamb.htmlThe Lion and Lamb
I often hear preachers use the phrase "and the lamb will lie down with the lion". I am assuming they are quoting the Bible, but I can't find it. I have read Isaiah 11:6-8 [6] The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. [7] And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. [8] And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
See All... and the Book of Revelation numerous times and have yet to find it. What does this phrase the lamb will lie down with the lion mean?
This is not an exact quote from scripture but rather a combination of thoughts from a couple of verses.
Isaiah 11:6The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
See All... The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isaiah 65:25The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
See All... The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.
Both of these passages deal with the kingdom age on the earth after the Lord Jesus Christ returns to reign on the earth as King of kings. The ferocious beasts (like the lion) will live peaceably with the gentle animals (like the lamb). Certainly, this will be a literal reality on the earth. However, this picture is also symbolic of the peace that will pervade the entire earth. When preachers speak of the lion and the lamb lying down together, they are referring to the time of peace when Jesus will reign as King over the earth.
