    What I Love about Autumn

With all of the bad news regarding the economy, the uncertainty that hovers over many and all the heart break that life throws at us I thought I would start a thread that might help lift us up a bit.

So, I don't know if anyone else will participate. But, I would just love to hear what you love about Fall as it is one of my favorite seasons.

    So...Imagine this I will start....

I love Autumn because I can go and pick apples off my apple trees for free!

Anyone else? (Sports fans, welcome also )

Fall is my second favorite season, winter being number 1, ( I love SNOW!!!)
But, I totally love Fall for so many reasons. The cool crisp air that smells of
firewood. The beautiful changing leaves. Fall festivities, and harvest decorations. I feel so alive in Autumn as do I in winter. I'm a happy camper
    right now!!!!

Fall is my second favorite season ...apples and colored leaves ......beautiful colors around here.....cider .....cool walks with my dog
Summer is my favorite...I HATE winter and spring cold...ice and mud come spring
The story of Job teaches us that the Devil has to be given permission to attack us. So if God is allowing the attack surely He's planning our victory. He would not allow us to be in a battle we could not win.! God looks for hand-picked people He can send into difficult environments, that He might be glorified. He makes all things "work together for good" (Ro 8:28) so don't be intimidated. Just keep your eyes open and see what God is up to!

I love Fall because my birthday is in it and I love colder weather so this is my favorite time of the year.

I like the first snow of the season. The snow hits your nose and face and feels so refreshing.

Autumn is also my favorite time of the year. As someone else said, I feel more alive in autumn than any other season. I love the crisp cool air and the leaves falling all around, the childrens laughter as they pass the house on the way to school, pulling out the wool blanket and putting it on the bed so my husband and I can huddle together and stay warm instead of staying on opposite sides of the bed to stay cool. The way the sun strikes the red and gold leaves and filters through is especially rich when it dapples the lawn and the side of the house. Having the first fire in the fire place along with a mug of hot, steaming tea.

And of course, looking forward to the first snow.

Nice thread - thank you for starting it. It was a good idea!

Thank you for sharing, one and all! I felt a little bad after posting this because some of our dear brothers and sisters that post on these boards have their seasons reversed from ours. So sorry to those ones! I did not mean to leave you out

My neighbor has a hugh birch tree in his yard. The leaves turn gold and just glisten in the sun when the light wind gently blows upon them. Glistening gold...if you will. I sit at my kitchen window, basking in the warm sunshine and gaze on the beautiful scene...Set against our large pines and fir trees in the background....picture perfect!

I also like fall because the same neighbor brought over a large bag of tomatoes for me yesterday Yum, yum! Home grown tomatoes....

I like the color of the leaves but hate cleaning them up! And my allergies do not like the fall much either but its cooler and I can go outside when I am having a hot flash now...

    oy...what can I say...
"People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; We drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

All that yummy root veg and warming stews. Spiderwebs covered in dew. Misty mornings. Crispy grass.

'Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.' Love the Keats poem on this link - probably my favourite poem of all time:

    Simply Smooth...

Thank God, actually it reminds me of ...

"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith" Mat. 6:28>>

I love everything about fall: the cooler temperatures, the colors... in fact I wish the colors could last a little longer.

I took some beautiful shots last weekend hiking out in the middle of nowhere.

    Are you in Oregon?

My neighbor told me how I can freeze some of those tomatoes. He brought me tons of them. That way I can continue cooking my pasta dinners thru fall and winter with real tomatoes. Or salads, if you will

    Nice pictures, Orendorf.

We get the beautiful maples changing color here even tho I am in Northern California.

Apparently during the gold rush, they brought seeds from the Maples from the east coast here. I am in a foothills old gold rush town.

I'm still lookin for that gold in those rivers esp. now that the price of it is so high
