Thread: Heads Up

    Heads Up

I recently opted to download IE8 beta. It seems good and all but it does some weird formatting on another forum I have been active in. I would recommend you avoid it. Perhaps the bugs need to be worked out. It is a beta after all. My nuisance factor was great enough that I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and have by now gotten to really appreciate the browser and all of it's sundry add ons. I like the Facebook add on that allows me to be in touch there in a toolbar on Firefox. I really am a stickler for perfection in my own writing and I do enjoy the built in spell checker. Even as I write this, it tells me with an underscore in red where I need to correct a word. If I highlight the word and right click an options menu appears among which one can see the correct spelling and apply it in a click. There are so many things I like about Firefox I would recommend any one trying it out. I am not a paid sponsor, just a satisfied user. Blessings to all.

Maz the new kid in town.

PS If anyone knows how to opt out of IE8 or even IE7 and have exclusive usage on Mozilla, say on. Being Microsoft, those programs seem to command the operating system. I know I can do a system restore to get back before I downloaded IE8 but that reverts any number of things I would want to keep and not have to busy myself in re acquiring. Mozilla has an e mail program called Thunderbird also and it is similar to Windows Mail. I have a computer that was last line of defense for WinXP and Vista ready so I got Vista Home Premium early on and went through a tough time of conversion and finding useable drivers for my peripherals and programs. I would not do that again anytime soon. I am glad my next upgrade will be plug and play. But my needs have been downgraded as I finally grew up and quit trying to get the silly games that lead you in circles. Best to devote to God and His word.

Yeah, ya know, I tried IE8 Beta on my XP machine, and it messed everything up. It was all I could do to uninstall it... I had no IE at all while it was in there and any attempt to restore made it worse.

Maybe its just my machine, but its been working fine for a long time.

I will heed this advice and wait until I hear good things before I even consider it again. Wait till the bugs are out.

I have Mozilla Firefox on a Vista machine (for working) and have gotten to really like it.
