1 Peter 2:5-9 (New King James Version)
5] you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6] Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.” 7] Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,” 8] and “A stone of tumbling And a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. 9] But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Believers are Priests in God's Spiritual Realm
The words in Chapter Two only get better. Hold on tight because now the figure changes swiftly from a spiritual house to a holy priesthood that functions as part of that spiritual house. Believers are not only living blocks in that house, they are priests as well. Be aware, In Christ's Kingdom all beleivers are priests who have instant access to the Throne Room of the universe, day or night, forever. Thanks to the finished work of Christ, these priests won't be offering up animal sacrifices or meal offerings, their function is to offer up spiritual sacrifices of prayer, praise and service.
Imagine! We are chosen by God for the high calling of priestly work! Now I ask you, can it get any better than that?
FOR TODAY: Make 3 offerings to Him, of prayer, praise and service.
