    Enya's Religion?

The Irish singer, Enya, does anybody know what she professes her religion to be?

Oh, never mind, I just found where she considers herself a Roman Catholic.

Now look what you've done. I've been youtubed...

If Clannad sang Bach, it would sound something like this...

(I love Bach, but I'll now always be hearing him with a Irish trad band doing an alternative in the background...)

I thought she was New Age? Very ethereal, her music. But what she's actually saying is difficult to understand due to all the lots of synthesizing things going on all over the place. Me likey, though.

She is sort of new age and ethereal is a good word.

I just watched her Caribbean Blue video on Youtube. Nice.

I like the paintings come to life esp. the Maxfield Parrish one at the beginning.
It’s one of my favorite paintings bu him - that and Daybreak. J

I'm sorry, I'm in fits of laughter watching some of Clannad's old videos. There's one... sounds stunningly beautiful. Everyone saying how romantic, spiritual lovely it sounds... and the first verse basically means, "oy, woman... get out of bed. I've got a bottle for the mother of the house if you let me run off with your daughter..."

And then there's the tragedy of the apple that was really a potato song.

I love being Irish. We're bonkers...

I was waiting for a bodhran and a fiddle too.

I could almost imagine this working, if the backing music just gave up pretending and REALLY went for it! If you're going to do it, do with sheer abandon, and insane enthusiasm.

I'm still having giggles about an T'ull, where Enya bemoans the fact that a young woman gave her an apple that turned out to be a manky seed potato. Everyone in Ireland was laughing at her, don't you know?

I loved listening to Clannad at university, because folks were so wrapped up in the mystery of the lyrics, and sometimes I swear they were just taking the micky.

    See you
Here's another beautiful Irish singer for you, if you're interested... the lyrics are in the information box. I've heard several versions... I think it's a traditional mourning song from the islands off the West coast, but can't remember where I heard that. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=oMv_3Y...eature=related
