One of the strangest things happening...

How can people be so deceived? Look what's happening in the world of Buddhists!

Devotees flock to 'Buddha reincarnation' - World Faith- msnbc.com

RATANPUR, Nepal - The teenage boy revered by many as a reincarnation of Buddha sat silently in the jungle as he blessed his devotees Wednesday with a light tap on the head, which they consider the touch of the divine.
His face was still, his long hair spilled over his white robe, and he never said a word.
The followers of Ram Bahadur Bamjan, 18, believe he has been meditating without food and water since he was first spotted in the jungles of southern Nepal in 2005, when believers say he spent months without moving, sitting with his eyes closed beneath a tree.

    And people there are saying:
"I got a chance to see God today," Bishnu Maya Khadka, a housewife, said after receiving Bamjan's blessing Wednesday. "They say he is Buddha, but for me he is just God."

"I have no doubt in my mind he is a God," said Meg Bahadur Lama, a local farmer. "He has been meditating without food and water and no human can achieve such a feat. I used to hear about such miracles in the past but now I got to see one."

You know, I have no doubt that if this fraud came to the United States, he would gain still MORE "believers." According to this article, look how many Buddists there are!
Buddhism, which has about 325 million followers, mostly in Asia, teaches that every soul is reincarnated after death in another bodily form.

    Here's a picture of him:

    My favorite scripture: Malachi 3:16

"Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name!" (Every time we speak of the Lord, or even THINK of him--its written down in a book of remembrance!)

It's called the shaktipat, a 'transference of energy' within the kundalini system. Its goal is to awaken the spiritual energy coiled within one's spine and have it rise through the chakras. It's typically given by touching the 'third eye' on the forehead. I was going to post a Christian article on it, but it references a recent 'Christian' phenomenon which we're not supposed to discuss according to the forum rules.

This is why I would describe myself as a 'cautious charismatic.' It's infiltrating the church and masquerading as genuine spiritual gifts. It can lead to spasms, muscle jerks, loss of control, rapid breathing, psychic experiences, digestive disturbances. My old theology tutor was a devotee of Sri Chinmoy in the Sixties and he saw it in action; what shocked him out of the whole thing was looking into the guy's eyes and seeing pure darkness. He showed us a video of Tibetan Buddhism with this going on, and it was demonic; the 'monk' ended up chewing his lips bloody and his teeth chattering with his eyes rolled back in his head. I imagine the priests of Baal worked themselves up into a similar state. I experienced the kundalini thing when I received reiki and took part in a shamanic dance workshop as a Pagan, and my mother also experienced it while receiving 'healing' in a spiritualist meeting. One to be absolutely avoided.

Bethany, I too have seen a lot of craziness that has infiltrated the church, and indeed, masquerade as "spiritual gifts." Its too bad, and sad, that some can't discern true from counterfeit. But then, they were never exposed to the true, and thus don't know when it is counterfeit. And think anything that happens is a "move of the spirit."

This guy I posted about, people are flocking to him, and waiting in long lines for his blessing, and leave saying, "I have no doubt in my mind he is a God." I would not let him touch me with a ten foot pole!

Me neither - I'm very cautious of anything that involves moving energy around, because I know how powerful it is from my previous Craft training. So a lot of holistic 'natural' medicine is beyond the pale for me (straightforward non-Chinese herbs are okay for me personally, because I do my research into their physical properties and contraindications).

God won't let me do yoga or Tai Chi - I had considered it as a way to help my slipped discs and increase my flexibility, but every time I asked if I could just do the movements without all the Eastern stuff, He said Nope so I said Okay. Don't want to go where He doesn't want me to go. Perhaps I'd find it too tempting, I dunno, but I'm peaceful about that.
