Thread: Amen or Aw-Mane

    Amen or Aw-Mane

This came to my attention while watching a video called " The Secret Rulers of the World " on youtube. I then started investigating the reference in the bible from the video: 1 Kings 1:36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, A'-men: the LORD God of my lord the king say so too. There is another reference in Jeremiah 28:6 .

My KJV bible shows that Amen is spelled with pronuciation as well as alot of names in the bible. I took this info to a local pastor and he was stumped. He said he would have to study it. Would this mean that when we pray, we are unknowingly praying to the Pharaoh Amen? If we do not say the name of Jesus in hebrew then why have we been taught to close our prayers with a hebrew word such as amen, which may in fact may be a mis-translation?

Also I noticed this the other day from a prophecy by Pastor Joh. M. Matutis.

" For all those, who as a result of this report, and those reports in the media, have become fearful and panic stricken, I would like to add, these things will surely come to pass, as sure as the “Amen” in the church. "

BTW Do not take the video " The Secret Rulers of the World " for it's entirety. If you do watch these videos, be carefull. Some of it is outrageous and incorrect, but some of it is questionable, and God did make us with a free mind to investigate when we think we might be decieved.

The Egyptian entity was Amun or Amoun, the breath of life. It got mixed with Ra, the sun, and was worshipped as Amun-Ra. The suggested link between Amen and the Egyptian stuff was beloved by Theosophists. Personally I don't think pronunciation means calling on other entities; after all we say ah-men over here in the UK and Americans say Ay-men, but we mean the same thing as in 'so be it.' Jesus used it to mean 'verily' or 'I say to you.'

Semantics. God looks on the heart and KNOWS what your intentions are - so no problem there.

There's a lunatic fringe group in Jerusalem that tries to sell their "understanding" that "Jesus" = "Gee - ZEUS", and when you use the name Jesus, you're actually praying to Zeus. THEY insist you should call Him "Yaohushua" (God's name is Yaohu-Ul).

There's always somebody with a "opinion" about this or that "Methodology" that has to be followed in order to "Get God to do what you want".

In fact, God Will do what HE wants, and it's up to us to take HIS yoke upon us and learn of Him.

Amen, can also mean; truly, or may it be so....

In the verse of 1kings 1:36..... do you insinuate that the king "Amen" is addressed?? because the king here is King David

It can be that it is written like that because they realized that their own lives got saved,,, so as an exclamation of relief perhaps.
Fenris: "There are two ways to shoot an arrow into a bulls-eye You can shoot the arrow into the bulls-eye or you can shoot the arrow and paint the bulls-eye wherever it hits"

Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge ... give place to God's wrath. For it is written "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord"

    Isa. 30:32
And every blow of the rod of punishment, which the Lord will lay on him, will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them

Many different languages use the same words.... 'Amen' is one of them.

My mothertongue is Afrikaaans, and many words in my language is the same as in English, others as in German, others as in Dutch, or Greek.... just a thought...

The english word "Amen" is exactly the same word as it is used in the koine Greek of the NT (alpha mu eta nun). So, if we got it wrong, so did Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Paul. I'm pretty sure the Hebrew word is nearly the same as well.

    Can I get an amen?!?

The grace of God is amazing. He saved a wretch like me.

We're not praying to the word "amen". "Amen" is a Hebrew word meaning "so be it".

That would be the safest and smartest thing imho. Good Post. I don't think anyone else even read the entire geocities link.

    Yes and No.

Exodus 23:13, “And be watchful in all that I have said to you. And you shall not mention another god by name; it shall not be heard from your mouth.”
