    Music Thread

I would like to see a place for Christian Music. A place where people can discuss music they like , introduce new music to people, share guitar chords, tell about any bands they are in and what they are doing and how God is blessing them. A music thread would be really cool.

What is Christian music? I know what Christian lyrics are, but what is Christian music?

It sounds like the kind of thing that would fit into either Anything Goes or the Praise forum.

A single music thread would be hard to follow with so many different musical instruments, but if there's anything you want to discuss in terms of music you can always start a thread in Anything Goes.
1Jn 4:1 NKJV Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1Th 5:21-22 NKJV Test all things; hold fast what is good. (22) Abstain from every form of evil.

A social group for musicians or music lovers would be cool.

http://oldchristianradio.com/ <-- this is probably the biggest old christian music website you could possibly come accross. They have a "web radio player" which plays music from their website, you can also order hundreds of good Christian music (not the devil's stuff).

I bought two discs from there, it's also good to listen to when I write bible articles, sometimes secular music just doesn't cut it! But I also like orchestral arrangements.

That isn't so clear. Any kind of music that glorifies God could be Christian music, but nearly any kind could, at least theoretically. A lot depends on the audience: some music will inspire a given audience to love God and to appreciate His love for them, and other music won't. It may be glorious and godly as the artist intended it, and as God hears it, but the audience's cultural background may not allow them to appreciate it.
Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more
You can't rely no more to be standing around waiting
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turning over in his grave
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend.

What is deemed as Christian music by record labels and what actually is Christian music very...different.

I would say that Christian music is any music that is made to glorify God and His word.
Without Jesus, the world would be naught.

    John 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
