Will my son go to Heaven if he isn't Christened?

My son is 10 and he has never been Christened, (long story invoving the breakdown of my relationship with his father)
We do go to a Baptist Church in Spain now (recently moved here) and before that one in England.
They prefer people to wait until "adult" before being baptised - but is he safe until then?
I myself am still struggling with what to do for the best for myself, but I dont want that to affect my son.
    Any thoughts please?

    Hey lolaboo,
Just a little reassurance for you:
Baptism or Christening is not a "requirement" for salvation.
It's an outward obedient act that signifies a person is "burying" their old self, & being "resurrected / Born Again" as a NEW creation in Jesus.

So, if your son makes a choice to come to Christ, he IS saved, & WILL be in Heaven someday.

My personal opinion, is that people SHOULD wait for baptism until they reach an age where they can fully understand the beauty & significance of it & remember it.

So yes, your son would be perfectly fine as a young Christian, who hasn't been baptized yet. No worries!

Hope that helps, & gives you some peace of mind.

You hang in there! Your questions have been SOOOOO good, and we're all more than happy to help answer them!!

Not to mention, "christening" children is not found in the bible.

Hi lolaboo, the normal route is to repent and be baptised (Acts 2:38). Once repentance has taken place (that's Christian jargon for the bit where you confess your sins and ask God for forgiveness) then you can be baptised.

Although being baptised is one of the things we are instructed to do, we are saved by faith rather than works. The crucial part is accepting Jesus.
1Jn 4:1 NKJV Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1Th 5:21-22 NKJV Test all things; hold fast what is good. (22) Abstain from every form of evil.

Your situation reminds me what led to my salvation.

I was handed a tract that said on the outside: "Where in the Bible does it speak of infant baptism?" When you opened it, in big letters it read, "NOWHERE."

The same person that gave me the tract later gave me a Bible. Well I read that thing through and through so I could prove that infant baptism was important to go to heaven. I never found it. Through my reading and other situations, I learned that what must come first was believing that I was a sinner. (I grew up in the Catholic church and was told I would go to heaven through my baptism and confirmation...well along with other qualifications....)

The Bible showed me that first I was a sinner and there was no hope for me. Not even baptism could save me.
Then I read that Jesus left His place in heaven to come to earth to die for my sins. If I believed that He was the Only One that could pay the price for my sins, then I would be saved from hell. He alone can save, not us or any sprinkling of water.

The awesome part is that He was buried but on the third day rose again! He has conquered death! He has victory over death! Yes! I want to believe in Jesus who can bring me from this earth to eternity with Him!

Then I was baptized as a believer, because my previous baptism as a baby did nothing for me.
In being baptized as a believer we are identifying ourselves with what Christ did. He was buried (go under water) and He has risen (come out of water). It is so awesome.

One more thing, if a person believes in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and dies before they are baptized, they are still saved.

Christening or infant baptism is not found in the Bible... Baptism is an act of obedience done afte one is Born Again.. from Above.... buried with Him in Baptism but arisen to New Life in Him..

One must be Drawn by the Father thru the Work of the Holy Ghost to be born Again.. or saved... man coming to God on his/her own power is not Scriptural nor is another person making a 'conscious' decision for another as far as an 'insurance policy' for being in Heaven..

Salvation belongs to God alone.. It's His.. and being baptized in water is an act of Obedience after one is born again..

This kind of black/white understanding really offends alot of people who have their core beliefs 'grounded in man theology' and not based on what the New Testament records and is Scriptural....

May the Holy Ghost lead you into all Truth.....

Many appear Righteous and Just because they say 'yes' to Jesus Christ , yet they don't do His Will.

thank you for all your informative and reassuring replies.

I am most relieved I am not condeming my son to hell.

My son and I attend the Baptist Church, in England the other options were basically Church of England or Catholic (if not "happy clappy" like ours).
By all your answeres, would I be right in thinking that your Churches are also evangelical?

    love to you
