How much do you really love something?
How much joy and fun to your life does it bring?
You only will know when it is taken away
When you wake up and can no longer do it one day
When in your life it can no longer exist
No matter how much you protest and insist
You body won't do what you mind says it can
The gulf between reality and fantasy you can't span
This is a time that the Bible speaks of
It is a trial and a test of your professed love
Do you love the Lord even though He takes it away?
Do you continue to praise and glorify Him each day?
Or do you moan and cry out, detest and deny
That the Lord loves you, saying it's a lie
That would be the easy thing, to lash out
To stomp and cry, protest and doubt
That is when we need Him the most to help us out
To remove all the pain, the depression, the doubt
To restore in our life the simple pleasure of living
To remember that there is no end to His giving
For if the Lord chooses to close a door to you
It usually means for you He has something else to do
So you can sit on you backside and cry and bemoan
But you will be doing it by yourself, all alone
Or you can accept the Lord's will and plan
and start to climb that hill, though you don't think you can
climb a path that leads out of your deep valley of despair
The path that leads to a higher place, you'll find Him there
He will be patiently waiting for you, as He always will do
for remember that He works from a grander point of view
And those little trials that seem so gigantic, so huge, so grand
are really not so bad, if you will only keep hold of his hand
