    If Love conquers all....

I have a friend who is practising yoga and east meditation, he believes there is a univeral God, but he is confused and the reason that he refuses to go to church cuz he does not understand the teaching of "fearing God",so he went to east religion and etc, mostly for health and medical reasons-------I m hoping that someday he can really find the truth --Jesus.
The bible says "everyone who seeks finds", and i think the real truth he is seeking is LOVE and real God. Do u think sooner or later he will find God, or God will find him?
God is love , and Love conquers all. He has been searching for the truth for 10 more years, and not found yet.........

None of us can know. His ways are not our ways. Just keep praying for him.

Yes, keep praying for him. And show him God's love through you.

    That's right!

I used to always get told, "they will quit listening to you but they will never quit watching"

Our walk with the Lord is one of our greatest witnessing tools

(I also agree that you should keep prayin!)

Where does Scripture say that "love conquers all?"

    1 Corinthians 13:13
But now we still have faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

    1 Peter 4:8
above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins:

    Matthew 22:36-40
Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

doesn't say "loves conquers all though.." ..lol...it's logically implied from the verses above...

I don't see anything that would lead one to that conclusion from those passages.

Don't know why. There's a lot there pointing to love being greater than all things..thus love would conquer all things being that it is the head of all things.

An old friend of mine e mailed me a few days ago after a gap of 8 months? She'd been praying for 38 years for her husband to find faith, and at last he has.

cathy is there a reason, for you personally, that you want this particular friend to find faith? If he shows any interest, he must be passed to a mature believer of the same sex and I would advise you stay well out of it. SofTy.
1 Corinthians 1:12-13 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptised in the name of Paul?

    KJV

May the power of the Spirit of our God unite us. SofTy.

Rabbi, the portions do not say love conquers all, but it does say that love never fails. 1 Cor 13

A friend of mine finally came to the Lord after his wife prayed for him for 30 years.

    That's THIRTY. YEARS.

He was a churchgoing man and was really trying hard to find his way to God. And he couldn't understand why he wasn't "getting it". One night during Bible study God told me to simplify things for him (because he had over-complicated the whole matter) and once I did, it took one small step for him, he could finally "see it", and voila.

Keep praying. Keep witnessing. Keep meeting people at their level. I think so very often we talk over people's heads in our desire to get it "just right". And we achieve nothing except the "deer in the headlights" syndrome. God simplified things for us by meeting us at our level in human form. We should do the same when we witness. That doesn't lower our standards at all. The Gospel is accessible for everyone, regardless of their I.Q., it's straighforward and to the point. We so very often complicate it, not just for ourselves, but everyone else we talk to.

I was an atheist for the first thirty years of my life. My Christian grandmother prayed for me for all of that time. She thought that I would become a pastor. That did not happen, but I did get saved eventually.

Any of my friends from those first 30 years would have thought that I would be the last person to become a Christian and would not believe it was the same person, if the knew me now. I was very belligerent, argumentative and opinionated. Now, I'm only opinionated.

Prayer works! I and millions of others are proof of that. Never give up. Oh, yes. My grandfather was not a Christian either, but he repented in his last days. My grandmother was a saint, if ever there was one. She was ever patient and persevering.

I dabbled in eastern philosophy in my youth. I practised transcendental meditation for years. It is very beguiling in the short term. However, it is in the end an unsatisfactory religion.

The goal of the Hindu is to cease to exist, to obliterate the self into an ocean of nothingness, thereby escaping the inevitable suffering that life provides. This is hardly compelling when you can live in a close and eternal personal relationship with the creator of the universe.

It might be worth your while exploring what they believe so that you can counter anything your friend says. A good book to read is Larson's Book of World Religions and Alternative Spirituality by Bob Larson.

there's nothing in those scriptures that implies "love conquers all" , they point to love as being the thing that helps us to relate to one another in a Godly manner, love towards God and people are what the 10 comandments are base on, thats why Jesus said the greatest is love, but it doesent conquer all, only the sacrifice of Gods son, Jesus (once and for all), conquers all.

How could anyone hang on a cross for someone they didn't love. Why would our Father give His only begotten Son, if it were not for love. Love is the reason these things happened, and so love conquered all. A love we cannot even begin to understand, but may the Holy Spirit make it true to our hearts.

    blessings to you

Surely it was Gods love for mankind that conquered sin/death
