Prayer, that most intimate call for assistance
Prayer, the thing that allows our existence
It is a conversation between God and His people
Not necessarily done underneath the steeple
It is a thing of pure love that God gave to all
And I know He hears us when we call
He hears that mother praying in the dead of night
Praying that her child is safe and all right
He hears that drug addict in the depths of Satan's hold
Calling out for help, from Satan's grasp to be paroled
He hears that homeless one crying out in loneliness
Praying for God to help them out of their mess
He hears that Father praying for his mate
Praying, crying for help, hoping it is not too late
He hears every sinner that hits their knees
He hears all of our plaintive, heartfelt pleas
He may not answer right away
He may make us pray and pray
But He will answer all our prayers one day
Just remember He answers His way
Prayer, an intimate call for help from above
Prayer, given to us out of his love
Prayer, do it always giving thanks for everything
Prayer, you have His ear, and blessings it can bring
