I was kidding around with a few of you last Sunday. It was my birthday and my 13 and 17 year old daughters where trying to get out of going to church. I kiddingly said I wanted Birthday Church for my birthday. They immediately stopped arguing and started getting ready. I came down to my office and jumbed on here while they were getting ready.
I said that Birthday Church was going to be a dandy because I was tempted not to go, but in fact was going to go (and it is always awesome). Well we got there and one of my favorite singers was leading worship (hadn't seen her for awhile). She was amazing!! The message was delivered by the Youth Group Pastor. Which blessed my 17 year old. The Holy Spirit then gave my wife and I different but powerful messages. When we got out my 13 year old asked if Pastor Dave was still around, because she needed to talk to him. She had been having a bit of trouble with the new youth pastor so I thought maybe she was going to ask for advice. We found him in the church. I stayed back to give her privacy. Next thing they walked up to me and Pastor Dave said "your daughter has something to ask you." Jennifer said, "Dad, is it alright if Pastor Dave Baptizes me?" Dad and Pastor Dave had lumps in their throats. Dad could hardly choke out the YES! with all the smiling and lumps that were going on. Next thing we are talking to Mom about setting up the meetings and Mom asks 17 year old Sarah if she would like to get Baptized as well. Sarah said "Why yes I would." Then joyfull lumpy throats were had by all. I later asked Jennifer if it was ok to do both together, she said yes. I asked Sarah if she was doing it because of Jennifer or Mom and Dad. She said no, she was thinking about it for a long time. Then we went to Happy Birthday Chinese Buffett and had a great time.
