Umm..what does this have to do with the topic? Anyway..back on topic..change I think is good as long as one doesn't try to change those things which are foundational. Then one starts to preach nothing more than a "meaningless"..anarchic doctrine..one where the only purpose is to demonstrate that their is no purpose.(which kind of contradicts what one is saying, as they have to have a purpose to even be able to speak and give such a lesson..![]()
From what I understand...in reading the bible, and this is just my opinion, so don't attack me if you don't agree, I am a newb afterall...
I believe Salvation only comes from belief in Christ alone- not through good deeds. Also, it is impossible to be good by God's standards. Compared to Him, we are all sinners of equal wretchedness. It HAS to be this way though because because if we were anything more He would be less, and that is impossible. Will He ever approve of our sinfulness in comparision to his perfect divinity?? NO! Will He accept us anyway? Of course.
Regarding Christians striving for constant improvement, I think there is a difference from saying "I believe in Jesus", and "I follow Christ". I think to truly believe, you must follow Him, and in following Him, it's natural to want to be like Him. Good deeds spawn from Belief in Christ.. not the other way around. Good deeds don't make you a good person or a good Christian, only Christ does, for He is Good. Christians strive to keep doing better and better because they are following Christ's teachings. True followers of Christ are not doing "good deeds" as a ticket to heaven...they are doing them because Christ is so appealing-- and His Perfection inspires others to strive for even an ounce of His grace.
If you truly believe the bible is factual, you must accept that final Judgment will be an individual experience for everyone... it is described in great detail in the bible...everyone will be accountable for his/her sins on judgment day. I think the most important thing to remember is those not listed in the Book, will not even have a chance to be Judged. And How does one get in the Book? Through Christ and Christ alone.
Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more
You can't rely no more to be standing around waiting
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turning over in his grave
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend.

If the Book be not infallible, where shall we find infallibility? ... Are these correctors of Scriptures infallible? Is it certain that our Bibles are not right, but that the critics must be so? ... We shall gradually be so bedoubted and be criticized that only a few of the most profound will know what is Bible and what is not, and they will dictate to the rest of us. I have no more faith in their mercy than in their accuracy... and we are fully assured that our old English version of the Scriptures is sufficient for plain men for all purposes of life, salvation, and goodness. - C.H.Spurgeon
