It went something like this...
A thought leads to an act
An act leads to a habit
A habit leads to character
Your character defines your destiny
How true is this?
I find it pretty true.. BTW it was Benny Hinn that said it.

Personally I think God says it best:
Galations 6:7-8-"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
.................The message of the cross divides the human race." ~MW~
........ ... " LORD, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant..."
.................................................. .................................................. ...Nehemiah 1:11a
I wouldn't abide by anything Hinn says, it sounds like a slippery slope type of thought pattern. You try to control every little thought and action you have, you will lose your mind pretty quick.
What do you know, a blind nut can find a squirrel every once in a while (wording intentional).
It sounds sorta like "when lust has conceived it brings forth sin, when sin has conceived it brings forth death"
James 1:15
I think the bible defines it better![]()
Lord, one thing I ask...use me for your glory.
... I also have nothing for the deceiver but give credit where credit is due and the principal is scriptural.
Agreed.
Actually this is in the bible. Jesus expects us to control our thoughts because they do lead to actions. I know I was surprised when I first realized this too because the 'world' tells us we can't control our thoughts or feelings! They say things like, 'feelings aren't wrong...you can't help it...go with it'. etc. But what if your feelings are about killing someone? Or hurting someone? Or stealing? Some people have a real problem with shop lifting for instance..its a urge they think they can't control.Metamorphasis:You try to control every little thought and action you have, you will lose your mind pretty quick.
Here are a few scriptures on this:
Matthew 5:27-29
27 “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Looking at a woman thinking/feeling lust towards her is the same as committing adultery He says. In order to not do this the man is expected to control his feelings and thoughts. (this applies to women looking at men too by the way).
Matthew 15
10 Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “Listen,” he said, “and try to understand. 11 It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”
12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said?”
13 Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted, 14 so ignore them. They are blind guides leading the blind, and if one blind person guides another, they will both fall into a ditch.”
15 Then Peter said to Jesus, “Explain to us the parable that says people aren’t defiled by what they eat.”
16 “Don’t you understand yet?” Jesus asked. 17 “Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. 18 But the words you speak come from the heart—that’s what defiles you. 19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. 20 These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.”
In the bible the word, heart, means feelings..emotions. What we feel and think gets expressed with our words...that defiles us. This usually leads to actions too as Jesus shows here:
Matthew 7
The Tree and Its Fruit
15 “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. 16 You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. 18 A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 19 So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. 20 Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.
Even those that don't express their true thoughts by words do so by their actions. So their actions show what kind of person they really are...what they are thinking and feeling..what is in their heart.
God bless
"People do not drift toward holiness. Apart from grace-driven effort, people do not gravitate toward godliness, prayer, obedience to Scripture, faith, and delight in the Lord. We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; We drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson
