Where does it say that all we will spend all of our time "worshipping"?

I think there is a misunderstanding of the term "worship." As a believer we can be worshipping Him in everything we do as we choose to bring Him glory. People have a very limited view of what the Lord has prepared for those who love Him. And because of that we don't get close to Him.

One of my favorite verses is "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, neither has it entered the heart of man, what God has prepared for those who love Him." 1Cor2:9

Most people have a very small God and a very unbiblical view of heaven.

hmmm, yes I think that is possible. Good reminder!

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to answer to my, um, 'challenge'.

Very good post. And very true. People don't look at the rest of that passage:

    1 Corinthians 2
if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. 9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
    and no mind has imagined
    what God has prepared
    for those who love him.”

10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

So God does and can reveal more to us if we seek Him. Then our limited view of Him will expand!

    God bless

We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance; We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom; We drift toward superstition and call it faith. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation; we slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourselves into thinking we have escaped legalism; we slide toward godlessness and convince ourselves we have been liberated?" - D A Carson

I think the Rabbi's point was is there is no scripture that even suggests that we will spend all of our time worshiping Him, and at least a couple that tell us of other things we will be doing.

No "All". Although I do believe that NOTHING will occur there that will not Glorify God in some manner.

I'm sure the kid would be happy at every mealtime. But the kid would also be nutritionally deficient and probably develop serious illnesses later in life.

Here's another way to think about things. If you were a bodybuilder, you can't get strong if you never push yourself with heavier weights. Lifting weights takes too much effort...I wish I could lift a feather and call it exercise. Right! That kind of attitude will produce zero growth. And when the situation arises where that guy needs strength, he won't have what he needs to get through that situation.

And in Heaven, it's not about you. It's about God. One glimpse of God and you'll wonder why you ever hesitated.
This life today is about God. It is ALL about God and His glory. Praise Him.

    Why are you pretending?
You are talking like someone who is trying to keep the law.

What is happening here is your heart of sin is being exposed. (good stuff)
It is not that we must do these things, but that it should be in our heart to do them naturally.

God wants us to be genuine, which is what you are doing here (good stuff)
Walk before God with your whole heart and be considered His friend.
Who wants fake friends? (not God, not me)

The fact that you don't want to do what is right and want to be selfish just directs you to the real problem.

Where your heart just don't love the way it should.

God alone can change our hearts, so we take joy in doing what is right.
Part of getting to that place is being genuine and honest a kind of confession of the heart. Another part is dependence (Hope, Faith) in Jesus alone for our transformation of heart. Lastly ask for the specific change in your heart and the right thinking to go with it.

    May you overcome

I would like to offer up a different kind of post.....
I want to ask anyone here what it felt like when you fell in love with your spouse or when you had a day that was just perfect!? You know that feeling where you are walking on air and nothing can bring you down?? Jesus is the helium, guys! When you are truly and dearly in love with Christ, there will be times and things that nag at you, yes, however, most of it rolls of your back because your soul is truly content.
I agree that there are definitely things in this life that I get myself caught up on. I am in no way a complete "Polly Positive". But when I am knocked down, the wounds heal so much more quickly. The only thing I can equate it to is when mommy kisses your boo-boo as a child or when you have a long day at work and hubby gives you a big hug. The love of Jesus is a panacea! When you truly love someone, you want to do nice things to make them happy. Why just this morning I bought hubby breakfast on my way home. Not because I HAVE to do things to make him happy but because I love him and am compelled to do things that make him smile. Hubby's joy is my joy and it's the same with Jesus. I love my Christ so much that making others happy or helping them brings joy to me. Taking the time to let something mean be a place where I can spread love is something I do because I see the Jesus in everyone around me. Our fellow men are the very things that God loves most, so why wouldnt I take care?
So I guess that the point of what I'm saying is that maybe you should try to find ways ways to actively re-discover your love affair with Jesus? The bible says :
"However, I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first." Revelation 2:4
    “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans;
    I will come to you.
    John 14:15-18
Jesus promises to be in our hearts. Learn to love Christ the best you can. Lay yourself prostrate and open your heart to God! Get deep in the word. Write a journal every single night of the things that you have been blessed with. Even if you can only come up with one thing for the day, still write it. Your relationship with God is a relationship and requires that we work on it. I will keep you in prayer and look forward to the day when you post about your abundant joy in fulfulling God's law just for the sheer joy of it!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
    Proverbs 3:5

My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgements come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
    Isaiah 26:9

Don't believe it, Polly Positive is a lie.

I used to be this way. But it is like suffocating your heart, walling it off so as not to feel (water off a ducks back).

We should get caught up in Love. but I tell you it is like like birth, bloody messy and painful.

Polly Positive is a faker, trying to live in a self made safely insulated and ultimately unloving world, unable to truly touch or be touched by anyone.
    Been there, done that.

Jesus is our example, He wept and mourned, was grieved and angered.
Some people Jesus insulted with the truth, others he comforted with the same.

He loved what His Father Loved and Hated what His Father hated, both with the same zeal that led Him to the cross.

What does true love do in a sinful and broken world?
    It loves and it suffers.

Arm yourself with this same purpose.

Agreed with bag of seed on that if everything were easy it would be fake. But I honestly believe that even though things get tough Jesus makes them better. The love makes you want to do good things, it doesn't make it easy when those things aren't appreciated or when you don't feel you're making a difference.... That is why we need Christ. Because we are not as perfect as He is and are unable to unconditionally love everyone. I personally get so wrapped up in the fact that I can't make someone happy it's a shame. You have to get to the point where you are content in accepting that everyone will not be pleased and joyful. But that no matter how many times you falter, you'll run back to God and let him heal the wounds that the world afflicts upon you.
    Blessings-

True sister, His love in us and in others is our comfort, our joy, our peace.

    You give me joy!

But one thing I would like to point out.
There are things love can not embrace.
Or better said to embrace is not always love.
It's when we embrace those things that we are wounded.
That embrace that we think is love but is not, requires us to first remove our breastplate of righteousness.

Our God longed to gather Israel as a hen gathers her chicks, but he could not.

We may long for things to be what they are not, but this in not truly wounds, this is love.
Love is often expressed in such pain, and we should not fear but embrace it fully.
    I should embrace it fully!
    Jesus embraced it fully!

    What does "worship" really mean?

Matthew 6:24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

    <Christian life is hard, difficult.
I have to exercise self-control. I have to be compassionate when people tell me my relationship [with] God is 'stupid' or 'a waste of time'.>

What you are describing has a much deeper meaning than you realize.

<I have to stop and help people, even when I don't want to or I'm late for something else.>

How did Jesus deal with life's temptations?

Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Jesus worshiped God and rejected Satans attempt to get Him to give into temptation.

Your temptation is to avoid helping someone that you are capable of helping, and your excuse is that you are late for something.

How does the way Jesus dealt with Satan relate to your circumstance? Does it relate to you at all? Absolutely...

Jesus didn't let Satan's excuses effect His temptation to rule the world, and have no doubt about it; just as you did not want to help someone, and your excuse was that you were late; Jesus' (the man) temptation was that he was fully capable of ruling the world with Hid Godly powers and Satan was all too willing to supply the excuses and to fuel that desire.
    Jesus dealt with His temptation like this;
Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

    What was the result?
Satan left Him and we all know the "rest of the story". Jesus overcame His temptations and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can too. In exactly the same way!
Did you ever realize that the story of how Jesus (the man) overcame temptation, tells us how we can deal with it too?

<When people express road-rage to me, I have to pretend as if it never happened.>

Think back and recall what fuels your "road rage" in the first place?
Is it your internal voice that drives your "rage"? Does it scream within your mind about how stupid the other guy was to do such a thing? Does this thinking take over your mind and make you crazy?
If your answer is yes, then you are halfway to understanding what Matthew 6:24 is telling you...

    Let me ask you a very serious question;
When you "pretend" it never happened, what do you do in order to achieve this pretense?
Do you quiet that internal voice of hatred and malice?

<This is what life is with God. On top of that, I don't get the things I want, which in my opinion would make my life 'easier'.>

Jesus never promised us an "easier life". Quite the contrary.
Mark 8:36 "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"
The life that Jesus promised is eternal salvation, not happiness on earth. if you think you have it bad, look at the price that Christian's who were fed to the Roman lions, rather than renounce their God; paid for their salvation. Christians today, by contrast, have it pretty easy, wouldn't you agree?

<I have to pretend I am happy with the things I have, even though there are a couple of things I wish I had (but it's all about His will, right?)>

Why do you have to pretend happiness? Either you are, or you aren't. The happiness that a truly saved and reborn in the Spirit-person receives, comes from within our Hearts and Minds, not from anything this physical world deals to us. That is the state of Grace that being reborn in the Spirit provides!

<And that being said, I have my moments where I am not sure if I like the idea of spending this in eternity.>

Paul asked for deliverance from this physical life where we must "walk through the valley of the shadow of death" everyday.

Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Romans 7:24 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

What is he talking about here, when he says, "with the mind I myself serve the law of God"?

Jesus told Satan that he served the Lord God only, and Paul says it here, as well.

If you click on the link below, it will take you to my website where you will be asked to take a 7 day "mental exercise" Challenge. Take it and then let me know if you receive any new understanding of how the Holy Spirit guides and teaches us through our heart and Mind.

See if you still have to "pretend" to ignore insults and preceived slights....

    God Bless and Keep you,
    Michael
