Some anger is sin, while other anger for a righteous cause is not sin.

"The wrath (anger) of man worketh not the righteousness of God." James 1:20

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:" Eph. 4:26

Jesus was angry with those money changers and those that sold sacrificial animal in the temple.

Those are the verses that came to my mind as well.

I'd say whether or not anger is a sin depends on the reason(s) for our anger and how we cope with it.

I think, it depends on what you do with that anger.....
Fenris: "There are two ways to shoot an arrow into a bulls-eye You can shoot the arrow into the bulls-eye or you can shoot the arrow and paint the bulls-eye wherever it hits"

Romans 12:19 Don't seek revenge ... give place to God's wrath. For it is written "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord"

    Isa. 30:32
And every blow of the rod of punishment, which the Lord will lay on him, will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them

G_d was gracious He has shown favor

What are you willing to die for? Now live for it!

Every sixty seconds you spend angry, upset or mad, is a full minute of happiness you'll never get back.

It is not ANGER that is a sin, but you have to be angry with love. Wrath and Hate are works of the flesh, and works against the fruit of the Spirit.

Anger is just a feeling or emotion. What you do with it? That's where the sin may come.

No, being angry, even with God, is not a sin. But holding on to anger and refusing to forgive is a sin. And having a continuing anger problem, a "bad temper", that you refuse to deal with is a sin.
Man's ego is inflated, his laws are outdated, they don't apply no more
You can't rely no more to be standing around waiting
In the home of the brave, Jefferson turning over in his grave
Fools glorifying themselves, trying to manipulate Satan
And there's a slow, slow train coming up around the bend.

I think being angry at God is a sin. For when one is angry at God, he has made a judgment that God is not just, or has not acted properly, etc. IOW, God did not meet his expectation.

Being angry is not a sin. Being angry at God, IMO, involves judgment of God's actions and is a sin.
"May the Lamb that was slain receive the just reward for His sufferings." A quote by Moravian missionary that sold himself (along with a friend) into slavery to reach those that the slave owner prevented from hearing the gospel.

May I live for Him and not for me.

Could you add another category, please eg Sometimes or It depends - I couldn't answer for the same reasons stated by others. if we're not angry at sin and injustice, then there's something wrong with us! I agree with BM that being angry with God IS sinful - for the reasons he has stated. But it's RIGHT to be angry at times - look at Jesus and the cursed fig tree - or the moneylenders in the temple!

Yep. We are even commanded to be angry at times. "Be angry, and sin not" sure looks like a command to me.

Anyway, you make a very good case. Jesus himself got angry at empty religion. When one reads his words to the pharisees, we can see he wasn't just some namby pamby gentle guy all the time.

I don't think being angry at God in itself is a sin. He gave us emotions for a purpose. People have been angry with God at the loss of a loved one,a job, home etc. God is bigger than us and understands the heart of the anger. We are actually angry at what we dont' understand in those cases.
Some unfortunately hold on that anger causing them to walk away from the Lord which is very sad.

God understands anger and as was shared previously,He tells us when we are angry to not lot the day end without dealing with it. In the end we hurt ourselves with that kind of emotion and as ACCM shared,we can't get those moments back.

Could you be angry at God because He is right?
Could you be angry at God because you don't understand?
