I'm looking for a new Children's Church curriculum for the Fall. We are a military chapel, and have a lot of different denominations that attend our "contemporary" service. Our Children's Church last 30-40 minutes, and we have 4 different classrooms divided into the following age groups: 3 & 4 year olds, Kindergarten, 1st/2nd grade, and 3rd/4th grade. Our age cut offs follow the the school age cut offs, so the 3 yo's must be 3 by Sept 1 of 2008 in order to be in Children's Church. We have been using Godprints Funfolios for the elementary kids, and the Pond Packs for the preschool/K classes (both by David Cook). Our teachers are not using the Pond Packs very often, so we are wasting a bunch of money buying them, and the Funfolios are not holding the older kids' attention very well.
We would love to find something that is broken down to have a drama/skit one week, a craft another week, a worship or song one week, and a game for the 4th week each month, with a lesson to go with it, following the same theme/scripture/Bible story for the month. Does such a thing exist? What we need is something that will get the kids actively engaged, something that is more active than sitting at a table writing, coloring, cutting, and pasting every week. We are having some discipline issues (mostly with the boys, who are bored) and teacher burn out dealing with it. I think if we could get the boys engaged in things we'd reduce the discipline issues significantly. Unfortunately, I live out in the sticks and have a dial up connection at home which makes browsing difficult, and I only have high speed internet once a week when I'm killing time with the kids on base between school and Scouts! Any links to curriculum you would recommend would be greatly appreciated! Oh, for summer we are going to use one of the Kid's Travel Guides, the 10 Commandments. I hope it is fun!
Thanks for any ideas.
