    I don't see the point of twitter, honestly.

    I don't personally think I'm interesting enough for people to want to know what I'm doing all the time.

    What is the point of twitter? Maybe one of you young 'ens can fill me in?

    LOL -- you're describing me. I joined, did three twitters and started wondering, who on earth cares? So while I have an account, I can't think of anything interesting enough in my life to tweet a bunch of strangers what I'm up to all the time. HA!

    I feel the exact same way about my life. But Twitter is neat because you can follow some of your favorite musicians, comedians, tv people, etc. They post what they are up to and links of their personal life and such.

    Its basically microblogging. People are allowed to post updates to their timeline in 140 character chunks. So its basically for people who share lots of information, quickly, in little bits. When you "follow" PersonX on twitter, any updates they make show up on your homepage when you log in, and the same is true for your updates when they follow you.

    When I tweet, I follow experts in my fields of employment, as well as people I find funny, or people who have their ear to the ground on interesting news. So when I log into Twitter, I might find a joke, some interesting updates on my industry, or just news I wouldn't have gotten from CNN (or at least not right away). I also use it for my side business and tweet updates to my website, content, or contests we're holding.

    I watch all the tweets from the developers of the software I'm work with. Since I don't really know them, and they aren't my friends, I wouldn't get this information in "meatspace" (real life), nor through facebook, and I likely wouldn't have them on my messenger list.

    Depending on who you follow, its also easy to follow the situation in Iran minute by minute as there are several tweeters over there right now.

    Think of it as everyone being a miniature source of news, info, and entertainment. You "follow" the people who post about the news, info, and humor you find most valuable to yourself.

    Okay. Sounds like it actually has some quite practical uses then. Thanks for explaining, I'll keep that in mind.
