Thread: Is God selective?

  1. #1

    Is God selective?

Is God selective in whom He decides to help (on earth) and when He decides to help them?

Does He loves us all equally? Are there any verses that support this?

When someone is going through a difficult time in their life and they feel abandoned by God, what is the purpose behind that?

    Scripture would help, please.

    Matthew 27:55
And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him.

More often than not, we only understand why we went through a trail, some time afterwards. All I know is; God wants us to grow in all dimensions and loves and cares too much, to let us stay as we are.
Perhaps He wants us to know that even though we feel abandoned – we have to understand that He is our Father and will in fact never abandon us. Perhaps He wants us to seek Him, and continue seeking Him, until we find Him and until we do not feel abandoned anymore. In such times, I believe we need to trust God completely. Revert to prayer and worship only, do not seek understanding as much as we seek closeness with God. In fact, sacrifice the desire to understand for the opportunity to:
    - Trust God blindly (not knowing the purpose)
    - Seek God even though He does not seem close..and keep on seeking
    - Worship and praise God
Know this, God is completely and absolutely mindful of you. He is closer than you can ever imagine in this time. And lastly, it is only the love of Jesus, the love of the Father, REAL love, that is being portrayed when we go through a trail or tribulation. Also we should not feel discouraged when we think we are abondoned, Jesus also once felt abandoned…
Mat 27:46 And about the ninth hour (three o'clock) Jesus cried with a loud voice, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?--that is, My God, My God, why have You abandoned Me [leaving Me helpless, forsaking and failing Me in My need]? [Ps. 22:1.]
Scripture that comes to mind is:
Heb 13:5 Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Josh. 1:5.]

In the back of most Bibles there is a concordance. You can look up key words and find scripture you need. There is also a web site called bible.com which is loaded with Godly knowledge and information, supported by scripture...as I said on your other posts, I think God wants you to get serious with your Bible reading and seeking HIM...HIS Word says HE is a jealous God..HE has to be put first and foremost...it seems HE keeps having me post the same advice....try it!!

If you read your Bible you will find that God is no respecter of persons. It says throughout the Word of God! Read the Word!

    God Bless
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that HE gave HIS only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in HIM should not perish, but have eternal life.

    James 1

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

    1 Peter 1

6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen[a] you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls

Trials are good. They are a sign God is maturing us and refining us, because He has an end result in mind. We can either wonder if God has forsaken us, or we can take Him at His Word, because He cannot lie, and rest in the knowledge that He is in control, that this too shall pass, and that He is a good Father who knows how to deal with His own children, not to our destruction, but for our maturity. God does deliver us, but it's a sign of love that He allows us to struggle, since struggles are what make us mature and infuse us with strength, faith and patience. Unless you'd rather God carry you through everything and magically remove everything that's hard for you? If He were to do that, would you learn anything? Would you grow? Would you mature? Would you have assurance that He finds you qualified to deal with the harder things in life, as an adult should? If we can't deal with things when life gets rough around the edges, how can we prove ourselves worthy of the higher things of life? How can we say to God that He can count on us when we complain and wonder if He's changed His mind about us, every time things don't go our way?

It's all on the job training.

Believe me, I know how you feel. But I'm here to tell you that when we learn to stick things out and look to God regardless even when He seems nowhere to be found, but because His Word promises that He never will leave us, then we'll actually get somewhere, and grow up and become mature. Not like children who don't understand what is going on, but as mature adults who are strong in faith and who can lend assistance to others after we have learned our own lessons.

    2nd Cornithians 12:7
7 Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! 8 Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9 And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10 Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
Paul was thrown out of many towns, stoned, ship wrecked, struck blinded by God, tormented by a demon and martyred.
Blessings sister, you are in very good company.
