    Catholicism

Time and time again I am seeing and experiencing firsthand the depravity of those in bondage to catholicism and its doctrines. Their heresies and doctrines bind up millions to believe a lie that they are saved by good works and attending masses, all the while denying and blurring the true Word of God.

From my youth I always knew that Catholicism was "inferior" in some way, or was told "oh, they're catholics" and I never knew what that meant. Many times the judging came from people who needed to be judged themselves; so I always went easy on the subject, and relatively figured that they were just more "dead" than most churches and figured no harm done.

But that, too, is a lie. I'm realizing now the dangers and utter depravity of Catholicism and the catholics it keeps captive.

I shared with a neighbor today after he commented on the "Jesus" sticker on my car (don't worry, I'm reminded every time I drive to be a responsible and mature driver, for Christ) and wanted one like it. No problem, I said...got one ordered and brought it over to him today. I saw the mother mary statue outside his house before I walked in, was convicted with a heavy heart and an opportunity to share the Gospel, and decided to ask some loving yet probing questions.

I started by asking when they got saved. They were kind of startled and said "well I've been a good ole boy since I was raised and I never missed a mass". The wife likewise said that we're glad to be Catholics. I asked them questions like, is it Christ who saves us? "Well, yes." Well, how about, if a person were to be raised from youth as a good person, doing as much right as he could, yet never surrendering his life to Christ, could he "make it" to heaven? Their answer was yes. Startled, I asked them what they would say if they stood before the Lord and He asked them why He should let them in. Their response was the same as most every religious but unsaved person. "I've been devoutly religious all my life", "I lived a good life", "I was friends with the priest", so on and so forth. I opened my Bible and began to read a few scriptures, lovingly, to show them what God's Word had to say. The man changed the subject and asked how long I had been living at my house. I lightly rebuked him not to change the subject because this was too important to miss.

Even by pointing out plainly, in many scriptures, with love, that it is not our "works" that "get us" to heaven, it is the gift of God through Jesus Christ by surrendering oneself to His Lordship and denying our ungodly selves, they were adamant about their own opinions.

The wife said, "everyone has their own religion and it's a personal thing, it's to each their own" and "we're fine where we are at". My heart was heavy so I asked one last question, which was - if you saw a man in a burning building, unable to help himself, would you pass him by or help him out? Thinking perhaps this was a works pitch maybe, they said, "of course we would". I said "this is how I feel, lovingly, about you. You're in a burning building and I must pull you out. Only Jesus can save you, it is by His grace, not our works, so that no man can boast on judgment day."

They said it was enough for tonight, and thanked me for coming over.

I went home a bit distraught and troubled. If this is what Catholic doctrine is about (and no one can deny this without lying through their teeth), then this is satan's biggest lie yet. Bind up sinners in a religious system that promotes works righteousness (a teaching that echoes such harmony in a lost sinner's soul), confession to priest (eases the conscience), and tell them that the Word of God is only revealed to the priests and popes so that they won't discover the truth for themselves, and what do we have? The great big, fat ABOMINATION that is the harlot and the damnable heresy that God will destroy. The precious catholics are utterly blinded to the ONE Truth that will save them.

Don't get me wrong. I love catholics. I hate Catholicism.

I've been talking to a friend of mine that has been a Roman Catholic all her life. I never thought to ask because she seemed like she had it all together. I finally asked one day and she spilled it all out. Confused, amazed, and distraught, I pointed out to her that none of her beliefs can be found ANYWHERE in the Word of God. She tells me that whatever she doesn't believe is a lie. She has been brainwashed by the system. I still pray for her. I love her. She needs Jesus just like I did.

Catholicism is also deceptive to the Body of Christ because it flies in stealth mode on the radar. It masquerades as the same thing we believe, so most Christians just think "well, I respect that, that's just their own thing". It's easy to say "I believe in God", and even, "I believe that Jesus died for me". To most of the church, this declaration constitutes a true Christian. "They're the same as me", we think. "They worship in church, and they believe in Jesus. No big deal!" But the true Christian, when using the Word of God to expose and reveal what's really behind the surface of one another's beliefs, will be utterly amazed and shocked at the contrast. It's really another world behind the mirror image of what you see.

You'll find that they don't really believe in Christ being the FULL propitiation (payment) for their sins; that one can "earn" salvation before God; that Christ indeed was not first, nor the firstborn, but that our Creator had a beginning; the lie of purgatory where their sins will be burned off (depending on how bad they were determines how long and how harsh the stay will be) and the lie beneath it which constitutes that paying more money to the church will lessen their deceased one's stay in purgatory; that one cannot truly be a "saint" until they are in heaven, and that one can never know if they will be a "saint", because eternal salvation is not secure, and no one will know for sure; the saints and mary hear our prayers, and mediate to Jesus, which mediates to God the Father. Then there's the obvious parallels with idol worship and mirror-image egyptian practices.

On the outside, Catholicism will on occasion look the same, might talk the same, perhaps even walk the same in some instances (I use that word "walk" lightly); but when you look inside, the cup is maggot filled and moth eaten, filled with contradictions, lies, and heresies. (Obviously this can go for any "Christian" who is deceived, catholic or not, but we're focusing on this system)

Saints, we need to be quickened, prepared, and knowledgeable about these things that exalt themselves above God and His Word. This isn't a matter of opinion; all one must do is compare their practices and doctrines with scripture. This isn't a debate thread, but rather it's a distressing call to those who may be unlearned about our precious Catholic friends who are beloved by God yet still not His children, and to those who are still in bondage to catholicism.

I've never seen a saved Catholic, and though there may be some, somewhere, until I see it, I've yet to believe it.

    Thanks for listening.

I know protestants who think the same thing about their church.
I can provide names, addresses, and email addresses.

Just wondering if you're willing to call your own house an abomination too.

I think the Catholics are not perfect by any means, but I like hisleast feel that they are Christians. From all that I have read they feel that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one goes to the father but through him. They also believe that he is our risen savior. However as you have pointed out they take the long way around in arriving at those points. They even have their own doctrines backed up by Catholic only writings. We Protestants look only towards the Bible, as our authority in understanding the way of the Lord. I think I am correct in the way I worship and I am sure the Pope thinks he is correct. I am sure when we both get to heaven we will have a good laugh when we hear Christ tell us both that neither of us is perfect, and only he is! However, we already know this now…

I can assure you, my friend, that there are Catholics who are Christians, and others who are not, but are relying on the church for their salvation.

I think it's like that with any denomination.
