Indeed, the cuts will be severe and the Golden State that Governors Earl Warren and Pat Brown built in the middle of the past century will be further damaged. Local community governments, already hard pressed by the recession and lower revenues, will now lose at least $2 billion to the state with the promise to repay when the fiscal situation improves. The higher education system, including the University of California, is being hit by $2 billion in cuts. The public schools, already struggling with large class sizes and less technical and support services, must cut an additional $9.5 billion and will lose thousands of teachers and staff. Tens of thousands of seniors and children will lose access to health care at a time when the national government is debating universal health coverage. The entire state workforce, except forest fire crews and the California Highway Patrol, are on mandatory three-day furloughs each month.

Recognizing the urgency of completing a two-state solution to the conflict, Obama has moved energetically to restart a peace process that petered out under the Bush Administration. The President has demanded that Israel demonstrate good faith by freezing all settlement construction outside its 1967 borders and that Arab states reciprocate by allowing Israeli commercial planes to use their airspace and by easing up on visa restrictions. Results have been less than encouraging on both counts.

Jordanian authorities have started revoking the citizenship of thousands of Palestinians living in Jordan to avoid a situation in which they would be "resettled" permanently in the kingdom, Jordanian and Palestinian officials revealed on Monday.

The new measure has increased tensions between Jordanians and Palestinians, who make up around 70 percent of the kingdom's population.

In his first public declaration on Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria, Chief Sephardi Rabbi Shlomo Amar called this week on American Jews to explain to the Obama administration the religious obligation of every Jew to live in every part of the Land of Israel.

In a letter addressed to American rabbinical organizations and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations that was obtained by The Jerusalem Post, Amar wrote that "the Torah commands the Jewish people to live in Israel. And we hear that the US is putting pressure on the Israeli government to prevent Jews from living or building their homes in large parts of the Land of Israel.

"This is being done at a time when every person is allowed to live wherever he wishes to live in every area of the world, while here in Israel [Americans] want to create a [Palestinian] state in which it will be prohibited for Jews to live. And even expanding existing settlements is prohibited.

This week's solar eclipse has Indian astrologers predicting violence and turmoil across the world, AFP reported.

In Hindu mythology, the two demons Rahu and Ketu are said to "swallow" the sun during eclipses. It takes the life-giving life and causes food to become inedile and water undrinkable, AFP reported.
Mothers-to-be are told to stay inside so their baby doesn't develop birth defects and some are worried a major world catastrophe will take place.
Raj Kumar Sharma, a Mumbai astrologer, told AFP, "some sort of attack by (Kashmiri separatists) Jaish-e-Mohammad or Al Qaeda on Indian soil" and a devastating natural disaster in Southeast Asia.
But, scientists and astronomers are trying to downplay the claims, saying Wednesday's eclipse is a nature occurrence.

Public health experts are gearing up for swine flu vaccinations this fall in what could be the largest mass-immunization campaign since the polio vaccine was introduced more than 50 years ago.

Local public health agencies will bear much of the responsibility for vaccinating the public, and the state is receiving $30 million in federal grants to help prepare for an expected re-emergence of swine flu this fall.

During the presidential campaign it was clear that Obama was anti Israel. For 20 years he attended a "church" that was led by Rev Wright who hated Israel. Rev Wright even had Louis Farrakhan at the church and gave him awards. Wright spoke with venom against Israel. Obama remained in this Israeli hating "church" for twenty years and only left after Wright was exposed.

Obama is now leading America into a direct confrontation with the Holy God of Israel. The mighty power of the God of Israel will be manifested in judgment against America unless the real and true Church stands up in repentance with crying out to God for mercy:

It appears that Obama has no fear whatsoever for God and has no respect for the covenant that God has made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob over the land of Israel.

He is also provoking the LORD by pursuing the homosexual agenda and promoting the killing of babies in the womb. He is doing all the sins that brings God's judgment on a nation.

President Barack Obama last Monday met for the first time with leaders of selected Jewish organizations and leaks from the meeting now make one thing very clear. The only free country in the Middle East no longer has a friend in the leader of the free world. Obama is the most hostile sitting American president in the history of the state of Israel.

This was the very first meeting with Jewish community's leaders. Earlier requests for an audience with major Jewish organizations had reportedly been ignored.

The oldest pro-Israel group in the United States, with an important presence on Capitol Hill, was not a voice Obama wanted to hear.

World Prepares to Dump the Dollar

American economists think the world can’t afford to let go of the dollar’s reserve currency status. The world is about to teach them different.

What do China, India, Brazil, Russia, France and Germany have in common? These countries most often can’t agree on anything. But they are united in one strange—and ominous—way. They blame the United States for wrecking the global economy. And they think the dollar is the wrecking ball.

Angela Merkel summed up the dollar-skeptic viewpoint last year. “Excessively cheap money in the U.S. was a driver of today’s crisis,”

The irony is that America is completely blind to the catastrophe heading its way.

Now that the initial panic has subsided, the dollar’s international purchasing power has resumed its former downward trajectory. Since the post-crisis high in March, the dollar has fallen by a portfolio-shredding 10 percent.

“Leaders from Brazil, Russia, India and China are demanding a greater stake in the management of the global economy and challenging the dollar as the primary denomination for world reserves,” reported Bloomberg about the recent G-8 summit.

At the G-8 summit, French President Nicolas Sarkozy called for a complete revamp of the global currency system, saying that the dollar’s supremacy is outdated.

Japan is America’s second-most important creditor nation—lending the U.S. billions of dollars each year. If Japan won’t lend unless America pays it back in yen, then China and other major lenders may quickly follow suit. This would eliminate America’s ability to use inflation to cheat on its debt payments. America’s debt burden would soar, interest rates would jump, and national default—Argentina-style—could be staring America in the face within months instead of years.

Why is it that the Roman Catholic church is so often involved in child sexual abuse? - Roelof

Dublin - A shocking new report has identified hundreds of victims of child sex abuse by Irish Catholic priests, officials and clerics said on Tuesday, two months after a landmark study found "endemic" mistreatment.

A spokesperson for the archdiocese said the Church authorities had identified between 400 and 450 people that allege they were abused by one of 152 Dublin priests since 1940.

Cape Town - An Eastern Cape candidate judge caused a stir before the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) on Tuesday when he told members he left priesthood for the law because he concluded there is no God.

Senior Counsel Torquil Paterson told the JSC: "I left the church for a variety of reasons, chief among them being that I realised God does not exist. I am an atheist."

Paterson, whose lengthy theological studies included a stint at Oxford University, explained he had eventually come to the conclusion that "all language of God is meaningless".
