JERUSALEM (CNN) -- In what was slated to be the site of a new 122-room hotel, archaeologists say they have discovered one of the world's oldest synagogues in Northern Israel.



A large carved stone found during excavations of the recently uncovered synagogue.

The site, which was unearthed as preparations were being made for construction of the hotel near the Sea of Galilee, is believed to date back some 2000 years from 50BCE to 100CE.

President Obamaplans to tell world leaders gathered at the United Nations on Wednesday that America is committed to a new era of engagement in global affairs, and that when it comes to dealing with the world’s problems, America cannot go it alone.

Calling on the international community to take a larger role in handling challenges from climate change to peacemaking, Mr. Obama is to insist, “This cannot be solely America’s endeavor.”

Cairo - Al-Qaeda predicted President Barack Obama's downfall at the hands of the Muslim world in a new video released on Tuesday.

The 106-minute video in Arabic, entitled The West and the Dark Tunnel, is part of a series of messages by the group marking the eighth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Osama bin Laden released a short message of his own on September 14.

Hi, IamRyan and Roelof! The word "revelings" is denoting a very negative type of having a good time with other people. It involves what we would term as "partying" in today's lingo. Another great word for it is carousing. There is an aspect of boisterous, nothing-is-sacred, anything-goes, drinks-all-around type of spirit with this.

I think the Lord blesses us with friends that we can enjoy having good times with, and I am so glad of that. It is a wonderful thing to laugh and celebrate happiness together! Thankfully, the word "revelings" has a far different meaning in this Scriptural passage.

Pope Benedict XVI will come to Britain next year, making the first state visit by a pontiff. He is expected to meet the Queen, the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, and may stay at Buckingham Palace.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Three separate missions examining the moon have found clear evidence of water there, apparently concentrated at the poles and possibly formed by the solar wind.

The reports, to be published in the journal Science on Friday, show the water may be actively moving around, forming and reforming as particles mixed up in the dust on the surface of the moon.
