WASHINGTON - Defying some of his fellow conservative Christian critics, one of the most prominent religious leaders in the country told several thousand American Muslims on Saturday that "the two largest faiths on the planet" must work together to combat stereotypes and solve global problems.

"Some problems are so big you have to team tackle them," evangelical megachurch pastor Rick Warren addressed the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America.

Warren said Muslims and Christians should be partners in working to end what he calls "the five global giants" of war, poverty, corruption, disease and illiteracy.

Except for an abortion due to medical reasons, it is murder - Roelof

At United Nations headquarters this week, the Obama administration continued its push for ever increasing access to legal abortion around the world. The Obama team has introduced language that has thrown a high level negotiation into a roil. The US proposal calls for “universal access” to “sexual and reproductive health services including universal access to family planning.” The document under consideration will culminate in the 2009 Annual Ministerial Review, which convenes next week in Geneva.

The sticking point for many delegations and what has driven apart the usual solid European bloc is the use of the word “services” in the context of “reproductive health.” Way back in 2001 during negotiations related to the ten year review of the Child Convention, a Canadian delegate blurted out “of course everyone knows ‘services’ means abortion.”

Even as it became an observable trend in the decline of ancient Rome, so it has been during the collapse of all great world powers: You can track the moral descent of a nation by its cultural decline.

Media coverage of this week’s funeral for Michael Jackson will be massive, and it will be global. Such was the almost universal appeal of the Jackson entertainment machine. Yet, just a single lifetime ago, the style of “entertainment” embraced by generations of Jackson worshippers would have been relegated to the world of the weird and the perverse, if not the downright demonic.

Gates placed Jackson in order of descent in a line of pop idols that have emanated from postwar Anglo-American “culture.”

The common perception in the West is that the Jews are the primary stumbling block to peace in Israel. Truth be told, the Palestinians are their own worst enemy.

Speaking in a television interview last week, Palestinian Authority (pa) leader Mahmoud Abbas warned that Hamas, the democratically elected Palestinian terrorist group in charge of the Gaza Strip, is “preparing a terrorist attack.”

Was Abbas referring to Hamas plotting another attack on Israel? Not this time.
According to Abbas, Hamas was plotting to attack Fatah leaders and facilities in the West Bank.

Pope Benedict XVI criticized the international economic system yesterday and called for a new global structure based on social responsibility, concern for the dignity of the worker and a respect for ethics.

"Today's international economic scene, marked by grave deviations and failures, requires a profoundly new way of understanding human enterprise," Benedict wrote in his latest encyclical, which is the most authoritative document a pope can issue. "Without doubt, one of the greatest risks for business is that they are almost exclusively answerable to their investors, thereby limited in their social value."

In the sweeping 144-page document, Benedict sketches a radically different world economy, in which access to food and water is a universal right, wealthy nations share with poorer ones and profit is not the ultimate goal of commerce. He advocates the creation of a "world political authority" to manage the economy

ROME, Italy -- As President Barack Obama arrived in Italy today for a summit of the Group of Eight industrial nations, aides voiced confidence that leaders will maintain their support for economic stimulus strategies in the face of a global recession and said the best commitment that the United States can make on climate change lies with energy legislation moving through Congress.

Leaders have said "it's time to prepare exit strategies," Froman said, "but not necessarily to put them into place yet."

World leaders gathered in L'Aquila for a noontime luncheon and then a series of meetings on issues ranging from the global economy to nuclear nonproliferation and food security.

L'AQUILA, Italy (Reuters) - G8 leaders believe the world economy still faces "significant risks" and may need further help, according to summit draft documents that also reflect failure to agree climate change goals for 2050.

Documents seen by Reuters before the G8 summit began on Wednesday cautioned that "significant risks remain to economic and financial stability" while "exit strategies" from pro-growth packages should be unwound only "once recovery is assured."

The Group of Eight -- United States, Germany, Japan, France, Britain, Italy, Canada and Russia -- kicked off with debate on the economic crisis, after what one analyst called a "reality check" in recent weeks on the prospects for rapid recovery.

But few big initiatives were expected as the G20, a broader forum that also includes the main emerging economies, is tasked with formulating a regulatory response to the crisis and meets in September in Pittsburgh after an April summit in London.

LONDON (Reuters) - The world needs to wake up to the scale of the downturn and stay focused on restarting growth in recession-hit economies, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown told Reuters on the eve of the G8 summit.

The run-up to the three-day summit in Italy has been dominated by speculation that China and Russia want to discuss getting rid of the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency.

Asked about this, Brown said: "Countries are free to put forward any proposals they have got but I would have thought people are more interested in the detail of how we can get growth going now."

The support of the Pope will boost the maturing of the New World Order - Roelof

VATICAN CITY — Pope Benedict XVI on Tuesday called for a radical rethinking of the global economy, criticizing a growing divide between rich and poor and urging the establishment of a “true world political authority” to oversee the economy and work for the “common good.”

He criticized the current economic system, “where the pernicious effects of sin are evident,” and urged financiers in particular to “rediscover the genuinely ethical foundation of their activity.”
He also called for “greater social responsibility” on the part of business.

More than two years in the making, “Caritas in Veritate,” or “Charity in Truth,” is Benedict’s third encyclical since he became pope in 2005. Filled with terms like “globalization,” “market economy,” “outsourcing,” “labor unions” and “alternative energy,” it is not surprising that the Italian media reported that the Vatican was having difficulty translating the 144-page document into Latin.

Reportedly delayed to take into consideration the financial crisis, it was released by the Vatican on the eve of the Group of 8 industrialized nations summit meeting, which opens in Italy on Wednesday, and before Benedict is expected to receive President Obama at the Vatican on Friday.

Benedict also called for a reform of the United Nations so there could be a unified “global political body” that allowed the less powerful of the earth to have a voice, and he called on rich nations to help less fortunate ones.

A sci-fi movie thrill ride, “Terminator Salvation”comes complete with a malevolent artificial intelligence dubbed Skynet, a military R.&D. project that gained self-awareness and concluded that humans were an irritant — perhaps a bit like athlete’s foot — to be dispatched forthwith.

Today, artificial intelligence, once the preserve of science fiction writers and eccentric computer prodigies, is back in fashion and getting serious attention from NASA and from Silicon Valley companies like Google as well as a new round of start-ups that are designing everything from next-generation search engines to machines that listen or that are capable of walking around in the world. A.I.’s new respectability is turning the spotlight back on the question of where the technology might be heading and, more ominously, perhaps, whether computer intelligence will surpass our own, and how quickly.

Thanks to exponential increases in computer power — which is roughly doubling every two years — robots are getting smarter, more capable, more like flesh-and-blood people.

Nevertheless, robots guided by their own computer "brains'' now can pick up and peel bananas, land jumbo jets, steer cars through city traffic, search human DNA for cancer genes, play soccer or the violin, find earthquake victims or explore craters on Mars.

At a "Robobusiness" conference in Boston last week, companies demonstrated a robot firefighter, gardener, receptionist, tour guide and security guard.

When a neurosurgeon electrically jolted this region in patients undergoing surgery, they felt a desire to, say, wiggle their finger, roll their tongue or move a limb. Stronger electrical pulses convinced patients they had actually performed these movements, although their bodies remained motionless.

"What it tells us is there are specific brain regions that are involved in the consciousness of your movement," says Angela Sirigu (pdf format), a neuroscientist at the CNRS Cognitive Neuroscience Centre in Bron, France, who led the study.

LAST DAYS – 3 minutes before 12 o’clock

When I read the news articles on the Pope and a New World Economic Order, I realized that it is indeed 3 minutes before 12 o’clock, with 12 o’clock the Second Coming of our beloved Jesus Christ.

The Pope openly and in writing asked for a New World Economic Order, something that never happened before in the history of man.

If I look at the situation in the Middle East, it is very tense and the region is ready for a peace treaty, which might be the revealing of the Final Antichrist, we must pray and watch carefully.

My view point is that the Final Antichrist is already a mature grown-up man, ready to be revealed by the world powers, when the time is right.

We always suspected that the Vatican and the Pope are involved in the final End Time prophesies, yesterday it was confirmed by the Pope himself.

We as Christians must prepare ourselves to meet our Lord any day, that day is known only by the Father in Heaven.

Daniel 12.4 has been fulfilled, the Last Days started in 1989.

Daniel 2 and 7 have been fulfilled, the Revived Roman Empire and the New World Order were created in 1993.

The prophesies of Jesus himself in Matt 24:3-14 have been fulfilled:

· Constant war around the world
· 1 000 million people of the world population of 6 500 million are hungry
· 5 000 people die weekly of flue
· HIV / AIDS pandemic
· +6.0 earthquakes rose with 40% since 1990 (1 year after 1989)

The First Seal of Revelations, the White Horse was opened in 1987 with the strengthening of the New Age Movement.

The Third Seal is already opened:

• 53% of the world population lives on less that US $2 per day
• 200 million workers live in extreme poverty

The world clock is moving fast towards 12 o’clock.

Thanks for this Roelof, very interesting stuff. As I live in the United States and am familiar with the "Terminator" series of movies and shows I found all this very interesting. This statement I found the most interesting of all: "It's conceivable, he [Rattner] added, that "machines could even overtake humans in their ability to reason in the not-so-distant future.'' It just makes me wonder if machines, like in shows, will view humans as a threat to themselves and the survival of the planet and then take the necessary measures to either enslave us or eradicate us. With machines nearing that capability it makes me more convinced the End is near as I don't see God letting technology exceed man in the Bible. I see a very short timeline unfolding.
