Bishop: Focus on personal salvation is 'heresy', 'idolatry'

"Sex, politics, and poverty evidently aren't hot enough topics for The Episcopal Church's presiding bishop, Katharine Jefferts Schori. Wednesday, she threw a grenade on personal salvation, too."

But it needs to spread, it needs to be exposed or am I missing something?

Makes you wonder if they even have a Bible and if they do, do they read it...? Ugh!! Yes, I can see why you first put this in endtimes. We as the Church need to stand up and call these people false teachers, because they are. I don't even want them associated with me...they are NOT of God.
Psalm 118:8 - "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."

I love this scripture, I think it might apply to this situation,

    Romans 16:17 Paul writes
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

No if's, and's, or but's to this scripture.

The Good Bishop said: "That individualist focus is a form of idolatry, for it puts me and my words in the place that only God can occupy, at the center of existence, as the ground of being. That heresy is one reason for the theme of this Convention."

I think a "what's in it for me" approach is wrong and too many churches are bending over backwards to become more appealing to the masses. Perhaps there is a pendulum swing between these two positions.

But if God gives me the words to use for a sense of salvation then it becomes available to all, objective, and not individualistic. It is what He has done so we connect with the Good Bishop at some point. But you can't discount the work of God and the assurance He offers which does make it personal.

What is her focus on if not the individual?

I don't agree with the bishop in general, but I do agree that the sinner's prayer as applied by many Christians is not biblical.
