Arrow Probably the stupidest question I've ever asked...

I'm not sure if this is in the right topic but I don't know where else to put it.
I have a question, and I probably can't answer it myself because of sheer stupidity. You know how sometimes people come to learn that Jesus is the Way because they had a big significant dream or vision? Why can't he do that with everybody? Yes, yes, I know, stupid question, but I can't figure it out myself. Can anyone think of an explanation or find an explanation in Scripture? Thank you!

Check out Luke 16:19-31. That's the parable that came to my mind when I saw your question. The last verse sums it up pretty nicely, I think:

'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'

Edit: Forgot to mention, that's far from a stupid question.
We long to be known and we fear it like nothing else.
Most people live with subtle dread that one day,
they will be discovered for who they really are,
and the world will be appalled.

    Hi Panda -

First, you MUST stop calling yourself stupid. You aren't stupid at all. You may be ignorant of certain things but that can be remedied with questions and reading and learning. So no, you are not one bit stupid.

As to your question, people learn in different ways. Some do best when they read something while others do best when they hear something. We are all different - we come from different backgrounds. So, not only do we all have a different way of approaching things that are presented to us, we all may "see" the very same thing but "see" it in a different way. Ask three people to look out a window, then describe what they saw without looking again - they all describe something different even though the view is the same for each.

God treats us all as the unique people we are. He knows what will touch the deepest recesses of one will not impress another at all.

Hope that helps you a bit -

The only stupid questions are the one not asked.

    You have a good question

Because everyone is different, Jesus reveals himself different to everyone.
    He adjusts accordingly.

Jesus said, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men to me." He meant that dying on the cross was His witness to the world. And Paul said, "It pleased God that by the 'foolishness' of preaching, that men should be saved."

1Co 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by thefoolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Joh 12:32 And I, if I be liftedup from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

But your question is akin to asking, "Why doesn't HE just do a miracle to draw men unto Him?" Well, like someone already answered, though someone were to come back from the grave, they still won't believe him. And the Pharisees saw with their own eyes, Him do miracles, and all they could do was resent it, and plot to kill Him. No, the Cross draws men unto Him. It was HIS act of love and sacrifice which draws men to Him. If they are not drawn by this, they are beyond hope.

Simpley because every one is diffrent. I used to have the same questian, I asked God about it, and He told me, that if He would do that for me, I would come to depend on it. He wants me to learn to hear his voice, not depend on big visions or signs.

I'm not saying that's the reson for all, just what I got for myself.
    Understanding the bible is simple...

First know God; then you will know His Word.

Thanks everybody! Guess what? I think you're all correct. You know how there are so many Muslims having dreams that convert them to Christianity? Muslims believe that dreams tell them things (which they are right to believe). That's why Jesus gives them dreams!! Because that's what Muslims will listen to; dreams! Hahaha this is so cool and it's making me tingly with excitement.
